Perhaps a hair wider, but the Kahr PM/CM 9 is a pleasure to shoot even with +P. The CM9 has been my primary EDC from early Summer and I couldn't be happier.
I recently shot the Ruger LC9, Glock 43 and the S&W Shield, all in 9mm Luger caliber. I found the Shield had the least felt recoil and the Ruger the most. Plus the Ruger had the worst trigger pull of the bunch. I ended up buying a Shield (the model without the safety).
My Nano isn't nearly as "snappy" as my CZ-82 (which is heavier and shoots a less powerful round, but is a blowback action). Your best bet is to find a way to try what you're interested in, and see how it shoots.
I just picked up a Walther PPS, and in the last two days have run 2 boxes of Federal aluminum 115gr through it. I was expecting something a little snappier, but the PPS isn't any kind of handful to shoot, at all. At least not with this ammo. I could comfortably shoot it all day.
I'm planning to run some hotter and heavier stuff through it this afternoon, and see if there's any noticable difference (and even if there is, it still shouldn't amount to much.)

Interestingly, I agree the Nano is not too bad with recoil considering its size. It may be because of the design. It seems to push back into one's palm more then flip the muzzle when shooting.
Single stack vs double stack does make a difference in felt recoil though, the epitome of this priciple is the very narrow DoubleTap Defense -DoubleTap. It is a very narrow grip - .665" across and some people have described the shooting experience as being hit across the palm with a piece of rebar. DoubleTap Defense has come out with a "Training Grip" for it.
