Just curious what you guys think about the current prices on 9mm ammo. Would you consider stocking up now, or do you think "better times are coming"?

Alex

If you think the price is right, buy it. If you wait, you may regret it.

Stock up now if you have the extra cash. Buy an extra box or two a week over and above what you normally shoot. Or save the money and buy bulk once a month.
.

He who hesitates is lost
No time like the present
Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today
A box of ammo in hand is worth two on backorder

If you have the $ buy it now. You can usually get it cheaper if you buy it by the case unless you catch a sale somewhere.

I'm buying. Prices may get better or worse but I'm not going to wait to find out. They're reasonable enough at present, for me personally.

There's an old proverb that says you never have too much ammo.
A year from now there could be a woman POTUS and you'll wish you bought all the ammo you could of now. I mean there are the people who were buying all the .22 to make a profit. That's not what I'm talking about. If you keep it cool and dry, ammo will last forever. I shot some Santa Barbara last week that I bought CHEAP years ago. The dates on the boxes were 1982. A couple weeks ago I shot some CCI .22 that were from the 1970s. I did not have one issue in 300 rounds. Everyone went boom! Buy now and if we get a decent POTUS then you can always just shoot it. I seriously doubt it will drop to $5 a box.

personally, I think one should have 500 plus rounds of any caliber they own, in a variety of fmj and hp.

Went to a shop yesterday morning and they had several large bricks of 22LR - various brands, even. I bought one just because it's been a while since I've seen it. Made a quick stop back in the evening, and it was all gone.

If the price is decent and you have the finances to do it, it just makes for good common sense to stock up on the ammo when you get a chance.

Buy now.

As was mentioned, there is a very strong possibility that we are about to have the 1st female POTUS. Not only is she rabidly anti-gun but her appointments to the Supreme Court will move it away from individual rights.
I am an old man so I already have a lifetime supply of ammo. I simply bought a box a week starting in the last Clinton administration until I had enough.
If you haven't started doing that yet, you had better get busy.

If I bought 9mm ammo that would mean I would have to buy a 9mm pistol. The last three times I have set out to buy a 9mm I have came home with a .45, a 40 S&W, and a Buckmark Target Pistol....

If you're asking, then you should know what you have to do.

And if you're really asking, you should get into reloading! :)

About .25/rd sounds good. I'd stock up on that because the next panic will double or triple prices... and that's where 9mm will be available.

I can sometimes find brass case 9mm for .20/round or so on sale or with store coupons. Ammo buying is all about dollar cost averaging, or buying in bulk. If Billary or Sandman gets into the WH, expect a run on ammo/guns/mags and the associated shortages/price increases.

we are the ones that sometime create "panic" by buying impulsively over the stupid reasons.
there was a thread that member started here few months ago, (I believe after San Bernadino) that literally said " I spent my whole paycheck today on ammo".
What is next, getting home equity loan , and buying more ammo, "just in case"?
You can do whatever you want with your money, but we are the ones creating the " panic", by buying unnecessary thousands of ammunition (while having several thousand already), creating shortages and possibly jacking up prices for others

What do you suggest the OP do, wait til there's a panic and THEN buy? He should be stocking up on ammo while it's on the shelves at a reasonable price. The ones who wait til the last minute are always the ones crying about shortages.

The laws of supply and demand don't wait for procrastinators.

Yeah but it's gonna happen. I learned the hard way in 2008. This is an election year and I think the odds of a Republican for president aren't very good. We have at least until November to buy stuff at reasonable prices. AR's, ammunition, reloading supplies, Pmags--whatever. If it's important to you then my advice is to buy it before November.

There's gonna be a whole lot of buying and belly-aching next time a panic hits, and it's going to happen eventually. If it's important then prioritize it because the whining gets old.

Unnecessary ammo...is such a thing possible?
yeah, when my great aunt died , I had to clear her house , and I have found 30 years of
"Better Homes and Gardens" in her basement. Neatly stacked up.
To her it was worth collecting all that.
Just as some people like sitting on 45,000 rounds of Thunderbolts :)
