As soon as it clears Ca.bribery scam "list" I will add one to the outside pocket of my 10-22 Takedown Lite bag . I am selling off my large gun collection because I am too old but strangely buying these Ruger Lites at my old age :) And if it doesn't clear "list" then I will go to plan B as OI will be an Oregon Resident in 2017 :) :) But yes I think this thing is that good ! I still have my Mark 1s , never liking even the good Mark 2 . but this one has it all fixed ! If you don't mind good polymer this is certainly the Bomb !

Nice looking gun but I almost choked when I saw the MSRP. That's as much as a Glock. Don't get me wrong, I have spent that much and more on .22 pistols but as a suggested MSRP it is fairly high. The last 22/45 I bought as a project gun was a Mark III and it ran me $325 out the door. Hopefully street price will be a bit lower when they actually become available.

Ruger stated a couple years back that they're not submitting any new designs for approval in California. Whatever is on the list is there but there won't be anything new.
I did not know that, well it will have to wait for June then for an Oregon buy :)
Maybe I'll start the ball rolling to get the muzzle attachment then too, there is a pocket in the 10-22 Lite bag next to barrel for that, how neat that one fits both !

I would like to see a Ruger Hunter with a 6.88 threaded bbl. I think I'd have to buy one.

If the new 22/45 is substantially more expensive than the MKIII, I, as a right-hand shooter, don't see much value in it. I've never had a problem breaking down MKIIIs or earlier. Once I did it a few times, any initial difficulty was forgotten. All that leaves is a funky new look with a hinge I don't appreciate the aesthetics of.

Come to think of it, I think I'd rather have the MKIII regardless of price.

Worry not... The MSRP and the street price are rarely the same.

According to Ruger...

"Simple, one-button takedown for quick and easy field-stripping and proper chamber to muzzle cleaning."

This alone has me sold on it. I got rid of my MKIII because of the ridiculous take-down process.

I like the MKIV. The takedown is nice, the mags drop free, much better safety, and improved bolt release. If it was just the takedown, I would probably pass.

The MKIV looks like an evolution, finally.

I've handled a few MKIVs and found the grip to be very uncomfortable. I'm a lefty and when the safety is disengaged it digs into the base/ knuckle of my trigger finger. If it is engaged and I try to sweep it off it goes down half way and digs into the top of the knuckle.

^^ this. I shoot lefty and was very interested by the mk4 design with the ambi safety. then I held one. pass.

same reason I hated the 22/45's. slide release digs into my hand. I don't know why nobody at ruger ever has a left handed person hold their gun......

I like the looks of the Mark IV! I have no problem with take down having done it so many times. I have a blued Mark iii hunter and I wouldn't mind a stainless Mark iv hunter.
I shoot steel plates at the club I belong to and its huge fun with the Mark iii.

I kind of like the looks of the pistol and have no doubt that it will be a shooter but I hate all of the billboard stamping, little signs that pop up to remind the stupids not to shoot their toe etc. Remove or better yet don't clutter the pistol with that stuff to begin with and have a real firearm once again. For a modern .22 pistol I am quite satisfied with my M&P Compacf with threaded barrel.
Since i have at least a dozen other .22 pistols in inventory i will pass on this new Ruger.

This one is undoubtedly going to need the same kind of trigger improvement that the Mark IV Target does. Mainly, you need to get rid of the magazine disconnector and replace the sloppy trigger itself. This will reduce the 5+ lb. trigger pull down to a manageable 2 lbs or so.
