22 Nosler?

Brass while not exorbitant, probably wont come down unless another Major or two picks it up. Barrels do seem a little pricey considering they are still using .224 blanks, but still pretty reasonable.

being a rebated rim brass will not be cheap

I am going to answer the why.

So you can shoot something faster out of your AR pattern rifle....that is really why.

Now to the needs, wants and all that jazz I will leave it to others....but the why is as simple as that...so those that think the AR is the end all and be all can have one more toy to play with in their plastic fantastic.

I've been dabbling with a 22x6.8 AR-15 for the last 18 months or so and it has some interesting potential out of an AR-15 platform. I'm planning to go on a prairie dog hunt in summer 2018 with it and expect it to perform equal or better than my 204 Ruger AR-15 out at longer ranges, 500+ yards.

I might have built a 22 Nosler instead if it had been on the market when I built my 22x6.8.

From what I understand, while the 22 Nosler case is similar to the 6.8 SPC, supposedly they cannot be formed from the 6.8 SPC case. That may be manufacturer hype, maybe not.

Unfortunately, I only have access to 100 yards here at home and I'm still in the development phase of both the rifle and the ammunition. Not much loading information out there on 22x6.8 although the 22 Nolser data will now help with some starting points. The project has been back burnered recently for a while due to other time constraints and I have to relocate my back stop due to construction in my area. Just what I need is another project.:)

When I am done, I'm expecting to get 55 grain velocities within approximately 5 percent or less of what my friend gets with his 22-250 and 55 grain bullets. He is loaded for accuracy, not raw velocity so his loads are not near maximum. Once I am done with the 55 grain bullets, I'll work on a load for 69 grain bullets. The twist on my barrel is too slow to run much heavier bullets, my selection.

We make pilgrimages to prairie dog mecca every couple years and 2018 is the next time. I'll get an idea of long range performance then.

There are a few folks down in the southwest that are having good success using 22x6.8.
