Well, one of my pet peeves, and something CZ hasn't had on their pistols, has been the "safety billboards" on the side of revolvers, pistols, whatever. I was looking at potentially getting the new CZ P10C, and pics show "Read Manual Before Use". :barf:

IMO,...it takes away from the look of a firearm. It's ridiculous to have something permanent sprawled across the gun. This includes "Warning will fire with magazine removed" and any other statements the legal ninnies have insisted upon.

If I ever DO end up getting something with with such word on it, I'll be sure to have it removed somehow.

Opinions.

If it is a shooter, honestly I just don't really care. If it is a collector, you won't want to change it from stock configuration. If it is neither, and it really bothers you, you can always refinish it and get it removed.

Gotta agree!..... Our world has become so "sue happy" that ninnies, I mean lawyers, or whatever are telling companies to inscribe things that are just too extreme just to cover their ars. Why not just put a tag on it, or sticker that an owner can remove.

I am not the brightest bulb on the tree but one would think that it is an owners responsibility with possession. Reminds me of my Dad cursing Ralph Nader back in the 60's trying to save us from ourselves by having seatbelts and putting the striker face of matchbooks on the reverse side to prevent fires!

We have lawyers to thank for such nonsense, as well as the three ring circuses we affectionately refer to as courts of law.

You must hate Rugers.

I agree, it looks like hell. But if I'm going to carry the gun, it doesn'tbother me much.

Well, they give the company address, model number, caliber, the company name, sometimes 3X,
the logo, serial #, at that point, does a warning matter? I have to admit when they put a permanent
white UPC on the gun, that looks really tacky.

I'll have to check my 3 CZ's, other than the model# and SN, I don't know what's else on the slide / frame.

Doesn't bother me at all. I'm more interested in how reliable, durable, and accurate a gun is rather than what was written on it. Sometimes I even like the added inscription!

This is the correct answer. I think I posted this example before. Got a push lawnmower. Said do not use to trim hedges. Had a picture of a guy holding the mower by the deck about shoulder level trimming his bushes. No matter what you think of safety wise some moron will find something new to do

I think thousands of years from now historians will identify the end of western civilization as the day when we started putting "danger, contents hot" on coffee cups.

Just wait. Soon you will have additional warnings such as "emits loud noises when shooting:, "contains small parts which create choking hazard", "do not drop when loaded", "may become hot after firing", and "do not eat", all in seven different languages.

Aren't there lots of safety warnings on fighter jets? Close up pictures seem to show they are plastered with them. If there's anyone who can verify here, please do. Not sure if I've read about any pilots wanting to scrape them off.

Safety warnings on the firearm don't bother me.

What I pay my hard-earned dollars for and what equipment I had to use in the military are two distinctly different things.

Those of us who served didn't mind the parental warning advisory labels on claymores, in front of the intake ducts on aircraft, etc. ... But when I actually buy a gun, I don't need the slide to be lettered with a stupid, big honking maker's mark, extraneous line of text telling me the gun will fire with magazine removed or to RTFM.

I will NOT buy a gun with a stupid billboard. I realize Ruger, STI, Beretta, S&W et al aren't concerned in the least about losing my business and I could care less. It's just a personal thing ...

Warning: "This is the dangerous end" (end of weapon painted in RED), This will be the next label :) If you like it, and it runs, it is your choice label or not.

I don't know specifically why CZ added the warning, but I do know why Ruger added theirs, and neither a tag or sticker would serve the purpose, nor did it have anything to do with the owner's responsibility.

A thirteen year old boy (Robert Yarbrough) who had stolen a Ruger revolver, dropped it and it discharged, injuring his leg which was ultimately amputated. Yarbrough sued Ruger and was awarded something like half a million dollars. It was appealed but I don't know the final resolution.
