nobody is against frivolous lawsuits as much as me but the McDonald's coffee suit was not one of them.

Woman had multiple skin grafts because Mc D's failed to act after several complains of their coffee being 50 degrees hotter than it should have been.

It was a clear case of negligence that resulted in a woman being permanently injured and the judgement did no cover her medical costs.

The example is not a good one.
Yup, a lot of "frivolous lawsuits" actually aren't when you educate yourself beyond the spin the company being sued provides to the media. Iirc the settlement had a stipulation that restricted her talking about the lawsuit (and explaining the merits of it), so mcdonalds could write it off as a relatively minor financial loss but recoup their credibility by blaming the victim and painting themselves as one.

/end digression

One of the first posters nailed it.... Gun owners can sometimes tend to be hard headed know-it-alls (well, all of them except me... I ACTUALLY know it ALL ;) ) that could and often DO benefit from reading the owners manual because they learn what they otherwise wouldn't. I'm sure it's to protect from lawsuits, but it's also a good idea. I try not to sweat the small stuff and let things like this get to me.

I also try to read the owners manuals :)
