I gave it away

I believe the same too. But it only works when kindness is done without expecting anything in return.
Of course Gunny. A wise person once said "Karma is oblivious to reciprocity." I will add that Quid pro quo should never be the reason for a compassionate and selfless act.

Nice!

My youngest daughter got her Uncle Marsh's bolt action .22 LR that he got from an uncle when he was 12. Quick bit of math there puts the year my brother got the rifle at 1961.

That's HER rifle, and she's darn proud of it!

About 3 hours ago I committed a very similar act involving my nephew. His 16th birthday was Friday. His folks didn't get him a birthday present at all. I was dumbfounded. Well today when I took him to the gun store he thought I was buying a Savage MKII for myself. You should have seen his face when my kids, and grandkids, and wife and myself presented it to him a bit after we got home. Priceless.

Must be a Marine thing.

I notice there was no mention of your sibling, or sibling in law, at the presentation. It is sad when an acorn falls a little too far from the tree.

At least your nephew has you to grow into a strong Oak.

The word "Father" comes to mind from these two gentlemen's exploits. I use that term not casually. Well done!

Wow ontarget just Wow. If his parents didn't step up for financial reasons that's understandable. Glad you could come through to shine a light. My grandson had his 16th birthday last week. We, his extended family, made sure his day was one to remember. Hopefully your generosity will be a returned x10.

Just Aunt, Uncle and cousins. He is a great kid and is working for me this summer so he should be able to find time to use the rifle on our home ranges.

Thanks for the great story!. I remember when I was given my first gun and it never gets old or fade. Thanks for your service to our great country, military and civilian.
