Camping World reconsidering?

Gander closed here too. I didn't go much after they started giving people a hard time asking to view rifles versus the old way when firearms were on display. And the prices just slowly climbed. There is no camping world around here. I did travel to CA for work earlier this year and visited an Outdoor Warehouse I think. It was nice.

...to do or express anything. Symbols are just that...symbols. Symbolism can be used and abused by anyone in any way. Symbols can be interpreted or misinterpreted in any way.

John Prine once cut a song called "Your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore." Just because you have a flag sticker on your car (or outside your home or place of business) doesn't make you a good (or bad) person.

...aaaaaaaaaand I just derailed the thread. Sorry.

My local and very busy Gander Mountaing closed and reopened as Gander Outdoors. The place has been deserted every time I've been in there. I'm betting it won't last another year.

He asked Trump supporters not to shop at his stores. I hope they are all doing just that. It's stupid to piss off half the voters, on either side.

Ever since he flew his true colors he won't be seeing any of my green cash. I'd rather spend a little more elsewhere than to help him out.

CW is full of imported junk from China.

They will soon be out of business just like Walmart and Cabelas.

How do you figure Walmart is going out of business? Target is also full of junk imported from China yet you didn't mention them. Hell, Harbor Freight is full of imported junk from China and they're doing just fine.

Me thinks you're not thinking this through.

I think it depends on how long the tariffs (taxes) on Chinese products continue. Doesn't look like the Chinese care about the tariffs. Walmart has already warned that they will have to raise their prices. The reason that people shop at Walmart is because of the low prices. When they raise their prices on products made in China people will go back to shopping at the local businesses and buy American made. I've been doing it for years. I support American companies.

Walmart, like most mega-retailers, will adjust with the times.
If that means selling more American made products then so-be-it.
If it means sourcing countries other than China then you can bet they'll be all over it.
China needs us more than we need them when it comes to buying disposable merchandise with disposable income.
Remember when made in Japan meant junk back in the 60s? Now it's made in China. Next it may be made in "Wherever".

Walmart carries more made in the USA stuff than any other department store and they are adding more everyday. I was able to pick up a SIG P365 yesterday at Gander for $475 -5% for being a Good Sam member. There is a LOT of US made stuff in this store as well; not in the clothing section as basically everyone has their clothes made overseas; but a lot of their stuff is made here as well.

First of all, I agree with your emphasis on buying American.

However, it is going to take a very long time, years, of sustained import tariffs before people "go back to shopping at the local businesses and buy American made." The reason for that is there is very little American made products compared to those that are imported, and what little is left of our manufacturing sector is not going to sprout overnight, as from some magical bean, to meet the demands of American consumers. Remember also, that we can't tariff goods for which there are no domestic manufacturers; electronics comes immediately to mind.

In the short-term, WM will have to raise prices on consumers. Let's just hope that we can sustain the tariffs long enough to actually do some good.

But, for the purposes of this thread, I don't think it matters where the stuff is made, if a company doesn't want gun-owning, Trump-supporting scum like me, I will happy oblige.

A Gander Mountain opened near me less than a year before the bankruptcy. The building is still vacant. A local church looked into buying it, but they wanted something on the order of $15 million for it.
