Hello Everyone,
I have been looking around for a .45ACP caliber Rifle or Carbine. Most of what i have seen are either oddball guns made my people ive never heard of or AR-15s with .45 uppers. I have never been truly comfortable with ARs and other tactical rifles, they just dont feel right to me.
I want somthing with a sporter style stock and accurate to at least 100 yards.
Semi Auto is preferred but not required. Useing 1911 mags is also a plus but not required.
Im not looking for a sub MOA sniper rifle that also turns me into a one man Army just something with a bit more reach then the 1911 i carry.
Any recommendations would be helpful,
Sam

It is ugly, but there is the High-Point. However, it, and the available replacement stocks, look a bit "tactical."

They are cool guns, and the world war two buff in me likes them but they are very heavy over 11 pounds loaded. the longer probably barrel makes it worse. Good suggestion though, i didnt even think of them when i asked my question.

Ive thought about hi point and other guns like that but like i said rifles with pistol grips like that just dont feel natural to me when i bring them to my shoulder. I have nothing against them politically or anything and i have fun at the range with my AR-15, i just am more comfortable shooting my M1 Garand, M1903, M1 carbine and My .22 plinking rifles. I want a .45ACP rifle with a similar feel to augment my 1911 that i carry in an emergency.

The camp carbine is almost exactly what im looking for my only concern is parts availability since they arnt made anymore, how common are replacment parts?

I’ve had my Marlin Camp 45 for twenty years, I love the little carbine. I’ve fired a few thousand rounds through it and no problems. With a handload it likes it can group near an inch at 100 yards - but don’t expect that.

I did perform the two recommended mods though - a new recoil buffer and a 21# Wolfe spring. Another part which is reported to fail without the above mods is the hammer strut bridge. These are currently available in the aftermarket. Your biggest obstacle will likely be the cost, a decent M45 is not cheap.

I enjoy lever actions and wouldnt mind one in .45ACP, can you send a different link this one isn’t taking me to the conversation and i cant find it on their website.

I think Hi Point carbines take a modified 1911 mag. Otherwise you are looking for something that doesnt exist on the regular market.

If it were me... and until Ruger comes out with their new carbine in .45 to with the 9mm... I'd get a Marlin or other lever action carbine in 45 long Colt and call it done... Way back when, officers that I worked with were only allowed revolvers, guys wanting some serious pop picked up N framed Smiths in 45 long Colt..... Don't believe the ballistics would be much different than the GI 45 - and you should be able to find a pretty good selection of loadings available from light target stuff to much heavier stuff in soft lead hollow points...

You wouldn't have the convenience of the GI mags but still have a quick pointing carbine in hand to be able to reach out a bit...

Ive looked at different forums and there seems to be alot of demand for a PCC in .45 ACP, so they will probably make one. They will probably make it to accept SR45 mags and or Ruger American Pistol mags like they do with the 9mm model. I would be amazed if they dont offer a glock mag well option since that was one of the their selling points.
I also wouldnt be too surprised if they make mag well for 1911 magazines since Ruger has its own 1911 model, but knowing ruger they might make it so only super special Ruger Factory mags feed properly (only half joking)

Parts are NOT an issue. Numrich has every part except, magazines and stocks(,both available in the aftermarket.) The real issue will be finding a camp 45 for less than 1k. (they are collectibles today)
Another gun to search for:Beretta Storm Carbine was built in 45 acp for few years
