Grizzly attack on the Blackfoot reservation near Glacier Park. 15 rounds from a 44 mag to put the bear down.
Wild animals have a very strong will to survive, especially when amped up on adrenaline. A lot we don't know, like bullet type, shot placement, etc.
I just wonder, did the shooting attract the bear to the hunters rather than discourage it?

Reminded of the note Hatchet Jack left on his Hawkins 50 caliber, in the movie "Jeremiah Johnson". "This here is the gun that kilt the bar that kilt me".

Heart rate of a bear is roughly 25 beats per minute, which means it takes more time for it to go into shock from blood loss. That's why some hunters have made lethal shots only to be mauled before the bear dropped.

Good read. Amazing when he walked up behind the bear and put a few shots at the base of the neck it wasn’t lights out. Must have just miss the CNS.

I have all of the powerful pistols. But they are still pistols and they don't tear up tissue like rifles do.

Yep! No pistol for me if I’m ever in best country! 45-70 loaded hot with a big old flat point coming out of a guide gun!
