H&R Pardner pump vs 870 Police

I've had a PPP for about 8 years great gun for the money. Almost as smooth as my 70s Wingmaster. Much better than current Remingtons I've handled. It'd my HD shotgun. 15 rounds on board. I'm considering getting the 20Ga youth.

If you don't have the money for a "better" pump, than get the mossberg maverick, If you DO have the money for something better get the mossberg 500/590 series, Remington's quality as of late has been very dismal (alot of manufacturers this can be said of), that being said if you have Mossberg 590 money than go to the pawnshops or gunshops and pick up a used Remmy Wingmaster...

Looked at a display model for a Protector. Very tight and heavy. Overall finish was very good. Straight lines. Even the screws in the top of the frame were nice and not messed up.

But, not as slick as my 1300.

Except the Pardner Pump isn't a Remington. Just a knock off of one. The 870 Express I had was supposed to be one of the better ones, being Police inspired I guess. It wasn't. So I agree Remington's quality leaves something to be desired. At least with the Pardner pump, the 870 accessories I have left will likely fit.

Then go to the pawn shop and get a used older 870, you will NEVER run those things out. There is absolutely no reason for the pardner pump, my foreign made bias is showing heavily today I see. Even the Maverick isn't totally American but it's better to me than the pardner. There is such a huge amount of shotguns sitting unused out there for a good price I wouldn't fathom buying a new Chinese pump.

Some people don't want to buy used. I doubt everything you buy is made and assembled in the USA.
Not in this day and age, of course not everything I own is domestically made however for something I rely on for protection and to out food on the table I prefer it to be American made. If you want new then just get the mossberg, if you are choosing something because of a few things you already have them try to get a used Remington or if you must buy a new one after a thorough inspection.

3 remington's out of the box in the past few years. All had to go back from over sized bores. Completely turned me off from anything remington. A tactical magnum, a pink camo 20 gauge for the misses and compact 20 gauge for small game. Each one seized up after the first shot and had the spent shell in the chamber. I was out half a season or so with the compact being at the mother ship. Plan on getting a mossberg to replace that one. Finish will not stop rusting on it.

You risk your life everyday with non American made items. Or do you not drive an automobile? From Air bags to brakes. Or the phone you plan to use to call if there is an emergency.

I already acknowledged the futility of trying to have everything you own from your own country of origin. If I have the choice and the means to do so I prefer to buy American. Is that ok with you?

I don't know at all what happened to remingtons finishing. This has bee reported multiple times. Some guy on YouTube had a tac14 out in his garage with excessive rust after only 2 weeks. I don't recall him saying if he lived in humidity.

I live in maine. Humidity isnt really a issue besides 2 months a year in the sunmer. I would be out in the field all day. Come home. Take the shotgun out in the morning to go back out and it was orange. And went i was away for a weekend hunting. That thing was bad when i got home. I had to wipe motor oil on it half way thru the trip. And that was me putting the clp to it because of that reason. I ended up spraying it hi temp wood stove paint. I am not impressed. The wifes and tactical ones do the same. But they spend most of there time in a climate controlled safe.

I honestly wished mossberg made a model like that remington. Model 25561. 21" barrel with vent rib. Mossberg does not have anything close to it. And i traded that 870 to a good friend of mine so i am actively looking for a new small game shotgun.

I have a feeling i will have the same rusting problem with the H&R. the 12 gauge i have is a poor finish compared to the remingtom. Which was sub par.
