I like it! It may be as useful as mamaries on a boar, but I appreciate the mechanical genius involved and it's the great melding of the original utility rifle with the current utility rifle. Needs to be chambered in 30-30 though...
Perhaps if you tapped off gas at the muzzle and used it to drive a piston rod rearward, and then used the rod to somehow operate the lever, and then used a long coil spring to close the lever and reset everything, you might have something.
