Does it look new and unfired to you?

Was browsing the gunbroker to see what's available and saw this stainless target 1858 Pietta the seller is claiming, "As new condition. No sign of being fired. No black powder staining in chambers or nipples. Cylinder has been turned."

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/850061697

That turn ring on the cylinder looks like it's been turned a lot and the brass trigger guard is dirtier than mine!

The gall some people have.

Hard to tell from my cell phone, for some reason I can’t zoom in. I have several ROA’s in stainless they aren’t as pristine as that.

That's a particularly bad turn mark on the cylinder. There's also a second turn mark ahead of that. (I don't see how that happened.) This gun may not have been fired, but it sure has been played with. A lot, and by someone who didn't know what he was doing. I personally would pass on this.

Definitely looks like it's been around the block at least a couple of times. You would think if the seller is going to try and represent this gun as being unfired and relatively pristine they would at least clean up the brass trigger guard.

Maybe someone's display model that got handled and played with a lot but never was fired.

The screw slot in front of the trigger guard bow shows damage. "As New Condition"? Most folks selling/auctioning on GB/Ebay want as much money as possible for their wares. Their least concern is taking someone to the cleaners.

At least there is no reserve on this one.

Not going to be a deal by the time bidding stops. Get one new then you know for sure. May not be stainless but then nothing special about claims of stainless.

After I bought my first used black powder revolver from gunbroker and found how pitted the bore was, I became suspect of all used BP guns from GB. Seeing this just further lowers my confidence in any used or "new old stock" black powder guns from gunbroker.

There are folks around looking to rip you off with all kinds of scams, lies, and misrepresentation.
In my experience, I have found that folks selling black powder items are far above average for being honest than the general population though.

It doesn't look unfired to me and although the pictures are pretty poor, it looks like like there is a buggered up screw that would seem to indicate it's seem some use as well.
I haven't even considered to put a bid on it, so that tells you more than anything else I can say.

I know, sometimes GunBroker has good things,
but ...

GunBroker can’t be trusted to make even a glancing effort at protecting us from thieves and fraudsters. They‘ll be glad to sell you anything under any description. The more money involved the bigger their cut and the happier they are. Caveat Emptor is an vital consideration when dealing with that outfit.

There are many examples but this is one of my favorite advertised frauds from them:
