Hi all. Have a Ruger AR 556 and wanted to upgrade the million lb trigger pull. Decided to get the CMC single stage flat trigger.

Drop in my $!?

This is the best hole alignment I can get. It needs to go forward and slightly down in the back. No joy.

I have the grip off. Safety out and still can’t get it. Anyone have issues with these?

Hmm. That sucks. I guess now we know why the weight was so high with the last trigger...
That is not an easy repair.
The easiest would be to return the awesome trigger pack that is my favorite to use, and get a normal pieced trigger.
The LaRue or ALG something or another, I can’t remember, I like cartridge triggers.
Then it will at least go in. Whether it improves the pull or not will remain to be seen.

You can’t drill the trigger bushings and I wouldn’t drill the lower. You can, but I wouldn’t. Bare aluminum does not wear well.

I wish I had a better answer...

Gunny is probably right in suspecting the lower being out of spec.
I have the same trigger and had no trouble installing it, in a Windham lower I think but I am not home so can't check.

Well... that just sucks.

I'd be sure to post a review, mentioning the Ruger issue, so others are spared your issue.

Are the takedown and pivot pins hard to get out?
I had one that I tried to put put a Franklin trigger in. The trigger would go in but the selector was locked up. After three tries I put it in one of my extra lowers I had and it worked perfect. Back in the Ruger, locked up.
The takedown and pivot pins had to be knocked out with a hammer and punch. Not half way through and then pulled out with your fingers. All the way out.

I’ve decided to return the CMC trigger as it appears the Ruger lower is out of spec. Drops right in my sons AR. Will look at a two piece setup for this instead. Doubt Ruger will do anything about this as the gun functions fine with original parts.

Don’t get rid of it if you don’t have to. They really are worth it.
If you are upgrading triggers, I have a feeling that won’t be the only AR you ever have...
I thought I only wanted one.;)

Measure your trigger pin holes and verify if the Ruger is out of spec. If it is then call Ruger and ask for another lower.

I would think it would be a whole new gun replacement. This isn’t a build. I bought a complete rifle. Not worth it since I picked this up Black Friday for under $500.

If the rifle was purchased new it doesn’t matter how much was paid for it. I wouldn’t dream of doing anything other than sending it to Ruger for a new one. Just because a Ruger OEM trigger was made to fit doesn’t mean a hill of beans. One of the salient features of the AR-15 platform is it’s modularity and the OP’s lower isn’t.

I was having alignment issues with a Rise Armanents drop in trigger. I could get one hole or the other lined up and the pin would go in. The other pin wouldn't fit till I hit it in with a Mallett. Went right in and trigger works PERFECTLY.

I put the CMC single stage cartridge trigger with the flat blade in a Palmetto State Armory (PSA) lower without any issues. I did not try fitting it in my Ruger AR556. My guess would also be that the problem lies with the Ruger lower.

PSA currently has their two stage nickel boron trigger on sale for $69.99. That is a pretty nice trigger. I currently have it in my Colt LE6920. It is not quite as light as the CMC single stage, but much lighter than the Ruger AR556 single-stage mil-spec type trigger and it has much less creep. Either that or a LaRue might be your best bet.
