Has anyone ever purchased a firearm after seeing it in a movie or on tv?

Can't pin point any movie or actor in particular, but it seemed the bad guys always had Lugers. Picked up up a cap gun then progressed to a couple of Stoeger .22's.....still would like to pick up an Artillery Luger in the future. Had several Luger squirt guns....until we filled them with gasoline to shoot wasps....worked well till the gas melted the plastic. :D

In an interesting twist on the subject, or, maybe not... As a kid I was always turned on by the Astra 400 favored on the old Mission Impossible TV show.

They loved using it for the service weapon of the fake banana republics and I really developed a hankering for it or the 600.

Oddly, after all these decades, I have still not run across just the right gun at just the right price to fulfill this childhood wish.

I have not read all of the replies.
It has probably been mentioned already, but I definitely found myself needing a Lever Action Shotgun after a couple of popular movies.
So.... I added one to my toy box.

Now that im reminded of it. I've always wanted the Pulse rifle from Aliens. Maybe one day we'll get the real one
Essentially it was an M1A1 Thompson with optional accessories to make it look futuristic. An Airsoft version was available .... don't know if it still is.

IF you want the real thing .... you're on your own .....:D

After seeing Pale Rider I wanted a 1858 Remington, now that I got one I wonder how on earth they manged to hit anything. It shots about a foot high at 20 yards and that ice cream cone sight is strange.

But the smell is awesome and I can swap cylinders while walking slowly towards the enemy.

I have not bought any gun or gun related items from watching a TV show or movie, but I do have a short list of guns that have been in movies.

Correct thread this time.

I remember watching that show also and loving the Astra, which my dad had and I got in the end.. I love the IM banana republics, lest not forget the Eastern European Peoples Republic and the dreaded UPR, United People Republic. Hey a nice compromise is getting one of the Astra 600.. Those are in 9mm.

Tv and movies have guided many of my firearms purchases.. But one I got was which was not so much because of a movie, but I had one gun as a toy. The Whitney Wolverine..

I loved My Zerbra as a kid.

I chuckled at the "Ana Caulder" poster,,,
I wonder what country that poster was from?

It's supposed to be Hannie Caulder.

I make gun leather as a side business and hobby,,,
Several years ago a lovely young server at my favorite watering hole,,,
Asked me if I had a gun belt and holster she could borrow for her Halloween costume.

She said she had something in mind,,,
Then showed me a picture of Raquel Welsh in costume.

This was the picture she showed me,,,

Needless to say I dove on that project like a starving man on a ham sandwich,,,
This is the rig I let her borrow for the costume party.

Hells bells, I still do not see how you saw that holster from that picture... :)

So, I turn the TV on for the dogs each morning as background music and I seldom know what's gonna be on what channel before switching it over to the Golf Channel. If you have dogs that can appreciate being calmed by background noise, try golf.

Anyhow, the show brought to mind a wonderful memory close to this topic,

In a scenario later eerily accurately depicted in A Christmas Story, my brother and I were presented with our first Daisy BB guns back 1971 or 72. Since, as depicted in the movie, the Ol' Man chose to mess with us, we didn't *find* them until too late to shoot them.

Fast-forward to a night of no sleep and you find us outside in PJs to try our skills. These were both the basic model with the giant magazine surrounding the barrel. My brother's shot VERY well while mine had ZERO oomph!:(

When our folks got up, I reported my disappointment to the Ol' Man and after he tried it and found it wanting, he assured me that we would hustle down to Jack's Outlet to set things right at the earliest opportunity.

When we get down there with my non-BB-gun..... THEY ARE ALL OUT OF THEM!!!!!!:cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss:

But wait.

So great was my disappointment and solid was my Ol' Man's friendship with the proprietor that he offered me my pick of what was in-stock with the difference in whole-sale price being made up by me. This was also a teaching point by the Ol' Man! My alternative remedy being to wait for the particular rifle to be re-stocked.

As I look at the options and run the numbers as they are fed to me it turned out a No-Brainer for cash in hand and personal sentiment!

You see, at the time my favorite TV show was The High Chaparal and with it's incredible theme song along with the overall show, My choice was CLEAR!

It HAD to be the *Spittin Image* 94.

Sure and it's not a fire-arm, per-se but for that year, it most certainly was to me.

Todd.
