How do you get trapped? You can only trap yourself while in a line. Just leave some room in front of you. Simple.

You been in one lately? Most have high curbs, posts, or other dividers between lanes, or between the line and the building on one side, and the line and drive way on the other. I don't remember the last one I saw that allowed for easy egress out the side of it.
Maybe if I still had my old, lifted 80's Toyota 4x4..

To be fair around my parts anyway, it's about 50/50.

To be specific the one I was in in the original topic was one with the curb with no side escape.

BUT, when we pulled in we were the only ones in the drive though. Therefore there was no one in front of us during the "matter".

Your point is still very vaild.

Exactly one of the reasons I hate drive-through lines, and avoid them whenever I possibly can. I don't like being trapped, especially in my vehicle.
Around here, I think every drive-thru line can be exited in an emergency by jumping the curb, if you choose the outside lane and don’t crowd the bumper of the car in front. Assuming you have the ground clearance, of course...it’s a no-brainer in a truck or SUV, but most cars can probably manage it as well, though some may mess up the air dam or front fascia, and don’t get high-centered. (I drive a 4wd SUV, so no problem.)
