Just a curious question. I've been buying ammo to stock for my M57 Tokarev. Mainly its 3 brands, Sellier&Bellot, PPU, and Fiocchi. The Fiocchi is by far the most expensive with PPU the cheapest. Paid about $20 a box for the PPU last weekand today I bought a box of Fiocchi and it was $32. I know prices are going up a little but the first box I bought of Fiocchi last month was $27 and everything else was about $20. In one or two videos ive watched the Sellier&Bellot had the highest velocity. I do notice the Fiocchi looks like it has sealed primers

Why is the Fiocchi more costly than the other 2 brands? Is it partly because the Fiocchi is sealer primers, because its made in Italy and not Serbia?

I buy the cheapest I can find on line. The Romanian Tokarev is a range gun so I am not picky about ammunition. The PPU put a round completely through an out of date protective vest that one of my LEO friends had. Yep, through the front and rear panels both.

I remember buying Norinco brand 7.62x25 years ago. Fairly cheap and not as hot as the European ammo.

I liked it. Primers were sealed IIRC.

Don't know much about Fiocchi, but it's regarded that S&B is hotter than PPU. PPU is very flashy and best used for outdoors, however they are the only company that makes a good hollow point ammo for the 7.62x25.

PPU isn't the only company to make 7.62X25 hollow points. Don't know how good this stuff is. Maybe PPU makes it for Wolf.......?

It is weird that none of the boutique companies make any ammo in 7.62x25, but they'll offer several loads in 9x25 Dillon, .40 Super, and 10mm Magnum.

Out of all those I would bet several organs that 7.62x25 is much more popular and thus likely to make the boutique ammo companies more money.

Owners of 9x25 dillon are not cheapskates and will pay for premium ammo. Most 7.62x25 owners will not.
I wonder if the PPU am will expand or not. I have not seen any youtubes or articles on it. Anyone here know different?

I disagree with that statement. People will pay a higher price for a good, proven defense ammo. Look at all the polymer pistols out there that are $300 or less- you think people are all using the same economy priced hollow point ammo? Nope, people may buy a Hi Point, but that doesn't mean Hi Point owners aren't using HST or Buffalo Bore in it.

Looking at the prices for 9x25 from Underwood and Doubletap and it's over $1 a round. Pretty standard price for top tier handgun ammo.

I've seen one or two videos of the PPU Defense Line expand, but I would like to see a more professional gel tester do it.

You may be one of the many exceptions. Those that buy 7.62x25 pistols mostly are either collectors or attracted to what used to be lower price ammo and pistols. Not quite so true anymore these days about price. Also to find a suitable premium bullet for .311 pistols is a little more difficult.
Premium .32 ACP bullets should be usable, but are a little light. Correct me if I am wrong here that there are no premium ~85 grain bullets suitable for an autoloading 7.62x25. Those for the .32 revolvers likely will give feeding problems

Does that hollow point work well?

The below film deals with PPU in gel, but is confusing to me in its presentation. The barrels were longer than stock pistols.

Yea i saw they had JHP for a dollar more. I think last week they still had FMJ. I don't know personally if id ever have a need for JHP since I'll never carry my M57. Yea $16 a box is cheaper than what I pay locally for FMJ PPU but still have to pay for shipping. As it is I'm somewhere around 600-700rds total for the caliber with boxes of PPU, S&B, and Fiocchi. When I took it to the range I only shot a box of 50 for the entire time. So unless I start going monthly, what I have should last me a long time. But never hurts to have more

Longer than stock for that CZ, but it's the same length as a full size Tokarev and the barrel in this video was also ported.

If the bullet fails to expand, it's not going to be from lack of velocity.

I wonder if Buffalo Bore made ammo in that caliber and was then shot of of a carbine length barrel what kind of velocity you could get?

Reed's Ammunition and Research in OK, my favorite boutique ammo source, offers 7.62X25 JHP and other options.

some of that ammo if the figures are correct seems quite hot.
for 110gr .308 diameter bullets
New Exclusively from Reed's Ammunition & Research! .308" bullet diameter It is a very accurate load and mild in recoil. Packaged 50 rounds per box. 1500FPS This ammunition is designed for all guns chambered in 7.62x25 (NOT 7.63 Mauser).
How can a 110 grain bullet instead of the normal 85 grain bullet at 1500 fps be mild in recoil. Must be a very long barrel. I do not see any pressures listed or barrel lengths listed. If the chronograph shows these making 1500 fps in a pistol length barrel, I would not fire that loads.

AIM has some JHP in stock, at a decent price. They're normally lower and do sales that drop it even further when there's no panic buying.

I ordered a couple of boxes from them with some other stuff. I've always had good service with AIM, I bought more than a few C& R guns from them. They were always right about condition.

I am extremely suspicions of Reed's claim of 1500 FPS with a 110 gr bullet in a 7.62X25 round. The only way, with that bullet, that you can make the O.A.L. of the cartridge short enough to fit in the magazine is to seat the bullet very deep. It would be intruding on the powder space.....and we all know what that does to pressures. And that claim of mild recoil??? That might come down to "mild" compared to what? A .500 Magnum?

But whatever is going on there It looks like I may have finally found a box of 7.62X25 ammo with a warning on it not to shoot it in a C-96 !!!!:D

To each their own. I don't see the statements from Reed's as significantly divergent from statements made by some other boutique ammunition manufacturers.

I haven't purchased ammo from Reed's for this cartridge but I have for other cartridges and have been pleased with performance and value. Plus I've always been able to obtain courteous answers from Reed's by email for all questions I've asked. Works for me, YMMV.

I'll pick up some 7.62X25mm ammo from Reed's one of these days when I'm ready to take my TT-33 & 16" barreled PPS-43 to the range again. I have some 7.62X25mm FMJ from PPU & Winchester on hand in the mean time. 7.62X25mm isn't my choice in SD ammo, I don't need 7.62X25mm JHP personally.
