Now that I have some experience under my belt the thing is working fine but I need more practice at aiming it.
Not getting readings at the furthermost yards. Only problem now is it's to darn hot to go to the range.
If you getting good reading close and loosing the reading down range it may or may not be your aim. It's a radar so the beam of EM is fanning out going down range so its unlikely your in the beam close and going out down range. Through staying closer to the center of the beam does help extend range some. You might simply running out of reflected signal. The smaller the caliber the quicker it will lose the bullet going down range due to the smaller area on the back of the bullet to reflect a signal back to the unit. Boat tailed bullets or bullets with no flat area on their bases will exacerbate this problem. I lose a boat tail 22 or 6mm bullet ~60 yards down range in most settings. I can usually track a 45 cal flat base bullet to 120 yards sometime further.
If you look at the [ShotXXXX Track.csv] data files on the SD card, the fourth column over in the data file is the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) if that number is well above 10-12 when the tracking stops then your bullet most likely traveled out of the radar beam. If that number fads down into single digits (the higher the number the stonger the signal) then stops you simply ran of of reflected signal strength but the bullet was still in the beam. Getting more centered might extend that a little but not a lot.
Dig around on the internet there are several interesting gadgets people have made to help them aim their radars at the target better. Some are pretty simple to make.
