While doing my normal web surfing for gun stuff, I ran across this.
CE318620-6D36-458B-A47D-3550AA0B00F2.png

Now I have never been a big fan of ProMag magazines because most of what they sell is just junk.
A few years ago I needed some short AR mags for shooting from the bench and found some ProMag 20 round P magS for $5 each. I bought two and have been very happy with them.
I know that one of the biggest complaints about the Glock 44 has been about the 10 round mags. You would think that they were the first company to ever make 10 round, low capacity, mags for a 22 pistol.o_O
So here’s the answer to that higher count magazine that everyone has been crying about. An 18 round mag for only $20. I wonder how good they will work? Does anyone feel lucky? If so, order some and try them out and let us know.
I’m still on the fence because, my 10 round mags work great.

There are a couple threads on them on GlockTalk. The consensus is that they work pretty well for the most part, surprisingly since they are ProMags. You'll want a loading tool as the spring is extremely stout and the tab assists are very small. I ordered 3. I filled them to capacity and ran them 3 or 4 times each. Had a few malfs from the top of the magazine. A guy on GT has extensively used his and has been experimenting. He cut off a couple loops from the spring with good results, made it easier to load as well. Other posters claim that theirs have run very reliably as is.

There is also a few threads on RimfireCentral and AR15.com about the ProMag magazines.

And yes they do in fact work and work well. I know, total shock!!!!!! I was on the fence about even trying them until I read reviews by other people that have them. Yes even the blind dog finds a bone and the blind squirrel finds a walnut every no and then.

I have 2 ProMag 18 round G44 mags that have been flawless for me. Yes they are hard to get the last few rounds loaded, but other than that , they work. Mine have worked just as well as all the OEM mags I have. If you want mags for your G44 that hold more than 10 rounds, then buy the ProMag 18 round mags with confidence.

Its Glocktalk where malfunctioning weapons are blamed on other things/or not talked about like Fight Club :D
There is some of that (as there is on other brand-centric forums), but many give honest assessments and experiences. As far as ProMags, the bias tends to be against them, myself included.

I was biased against ProMags too. The ProMag G44 magazines actually do work well. I have posted my results on Glocktalk, AR15.com and RimfireCentral. The majority of people that have actually tried teh ProMag G44 magazines have NOT had any problems with them.

ProMags are hit or miss, often miss, but I can attest that a 10 rd LCP mag I have of theirs works very well. If others are reporting success then it's worth buying one just to try.

It does seem that with single stack mags ProMag's work better than their doublestacks.

I Have only used 40 grain ammo with mine, both standard and high velocity. I haven't had any issues. I will tell you that they are hard to load to 18. I loaded mine up and let them sit for a few days before using them.

I got my order in today.

The floorplate of the Glock mag has a better fit to the bottom of the magwell.

But that’s because the ProMag magazine is just a little longer. But the fit in the magwell just as good as the Glock mag and the lock the slide when pulled to the rear.

The spring on the ProMag is stiffer and the loading tabs are smaller. The ProMag spring is a thicker circular coil spring, unlike the rectangular spring used by Glock. The weight of the Glock spring has a more even pressure when pulled down. The ProMag gets heavier as it is compressed.

The follower has a different shape that is angled to the right and the Glock is angled to the left. 4041D866-BCA6-437D-8E81-3257459D8637.jpeg

There’s just a little slag at the top front of the ProMag magazines, but that will be very easy to clean up.

Overall I would say that they look like very well mad magazines.
It will most likely be Monday before I can make it to the range to try them out.

Gunny, unless you got some lemons, the ProMag's should work just as well as the OEM mags do. At least that has been my experience. And the mags will become easier to load with use.

In for the G44 Promag range reports. Looked at them a few weeks ago but reviews were largely negative. However, I have way more trust in honest info in this thread...even from the “Glock Haters”. LOL!

Also, and FWIW, here is a G44 update I wrote and posted on another forum’s G44 thread:

Shot another 300ish rounds through my G44 yesterday and zero issues. Shot some combination of 38 grain cheap Federal bulk and cheap Aguilar 40 grain. I just take the ammo from original boxes and dump it into used 16 oz vitamin bottles, so it’s kinda mix and match.

Also, the gun was filthy, as it hadn’t been properly cleaned in at least 5-6 range visits. Two range visits ago, it started to have issues (stovepipes and FTE’s), but after a good squirt of CLP (Rand is what’s currently in my range bag), it stopped acting up and ran like a top. Been putting more CLP on prior to every session since.

Cleaned it yesterday. It was pretty cruddy. Got all the funk out, liberally oiled with CLP (Lucas Extreme), and I expect it will run fine going forward.

Best guess is I have over 4K rounds through it now based on the hole I’ve got in my once full .22 ammo box. It’s my “teach folks about guns” tool (and it’s had plenty of those folks shoot it lately), as well as my “warmup session” gun. It goes with me on every range visit for the last dozen trips and will likely remain the one gun I never leave home.

I’ll probably buy another and more mags sometime soon.

YMMV”

There are threads on glocktalk and ar15.com about the ProMag 18 round magazines. I have posted my results on both forums too. The majority of us that have bought and tried the ProMag's haven't had any issues with them. I was pleasantly surprised how well they do work. Like I said they function as well as my OEM mags.

I made it to the range yesterday around 6pm to try out the mags. First impression, I’m not impressed.:(
First off, on a scale of 1 to 10 when it comes to ease of loading I give the ProMag an 8 and the Glock mag a 1.
Boy are those little tabs on the ProMag hard on the fingers. The heavier springer on the ProMag gets harder as you load the mag. The Glock mag has pretty much a smooth even pressure all the way.

I tried several deferent types of ammo. Just about every mag had one FTF with the
ProMags. The only rounds that feed 100% was the Armscor. The Remington Subsonic would not feed at all.

After about the third loading, I started to get this.

It appears that the followers were hanging up a little.

Whenever the ProMags gave me trouble with a type of ammo, I would try it with the Glock mag. The Glock mag worked perfectly.

I tried out ten different types of ammo and shoot about 300 rounds.
Now I’m not going to give up on the ProMags. I’m going to take them apart and if doing a little cleaning up on the inside will get them running 100%.

All in all I had a good time.

I took my Pro Mags apart, sanded the mold parting lines on the followers and coated them with silicone spray.
That made them less unreliable. I will see if Gun Mag Warehouse will take them back.

I’m hoping that I have better luck. The followers didn’t get stuck with all ammo. And most often there was only one miss feed per mag. I’m going to get some very fine sandpaper to clean up the followers and apply a little silicone grease.
I just wish they were easier to load.

Like I said, some people have had issues when using 36 grain or lighter ammo. I'm guessing it has to do with the bullet profile. What I do with every single new magazine is to load them to full capacity anklet them sit for a few days which seems to help. And the ProMag's do get easier to load with use. I haven't had any issues sticking with 40 grain ammo. Most people only load the ProMag's to 15 due to the fact that they are hard to load to 18.

I'm sorry, did somebody say promag?

Yes we did. And they actually made a magazine that does work for once. Actually I have two types of ProMag magazines that work well, the Glock G44 mags and the 25 round mag for the Marlin Model 70/795.

I would see if they make an easy loader that slips over the buttons and lets you get better and more even pressure to compress the spring. I got one for my TX22 mags and make it so much easier then trying to thumb the small tabs on the Taurus magazines. Plus it feels more even and the rounds load properly
