I own a BERSA 23 and two TX22's. Actually two BERSA .22's as I also have the T22. I voted for the TX22, but in all honesty I could have picked either. The BERSA needs high velocity ammunition due to it's all metal composition. That's the only drawback. Both guns are accurate and reliable and a lot of fun to shoot. My M23 is probably 25 years old, and nothing shows much wear. The TX22 is polymer and too new to determine long time how it will stand the test of time. I have about three thousand round through one of the TX's with no problems that weren't ammunition related. IMG_3715 (1).JPG

You are missing many outstanding 22 pistols by restricting the vote to this trio. Constable is not a current gun, and Bersa alloy v Taurus polymer is a stretch. How about Beretta 70 series? PPK/S? Bernadelli? Rugers of various flavors? S&Ws? GSG 1911s? Rock Islands?

The correct answer is (D) Beretta Model 70S! Just kidding but with it's easy to see sights, great SAO trigger, and stellar reliability I think it's still one of the best medium frame size .22s.

Of the three listed I would go with the Astra Constable.

Have three Taurii Tx22's, about 1K rds through each. One FTF. No issues. I see now that that is different than the PT22 but I'm still not changing my answer

I know everyone wants to vote for their favorite that’s not on the list, but this is just a fun poll to vote on three specific ones. I can always post a “what’s your favorite 22 handgun?” Later.

Since this list is of older pistols, I'll assume the PT22 to be an older metal frame version. However, a tip up barrel, no extractor, double action only Taurus PT22 would not be my choice over the other two single action/double action pistols unless you just had to have the smallest of the three.

I have a Beretta 21 that the PT22 mimics, with the Beretta having an SA/DA trigger.

I also have the current version of the Bersa in .22LR and it is a better gun than my 21 at everything except being small.

I have no experience with the Astra. I'd like to own one, but wouldn't shoot it much if parts availability is an issue.

So, put me down for the Bersa.

I love the looks of the Astra. I would, based on what one of the posters said about good reliability, get that gun. One reason I like small barrel guns. (recently bought the LCPll 22.cal)

I have shot the Taurus and it was a very good shooter.

The Astra also reminds me of the Phoenix HPA 22 which I love to shoot (own two of them) Also love the way it feels in my hand. They typically go for $150.00 or less. Saw a used on in my local LGS for $250.

I’m always surprised to hear nothing but good things about the Phoenix. For the price you would expect a Saturday night special but people put thousands of round through it without fail.

Years ago, I owned an Astra Constable in .22 Lr, and really liked it. It was reliable and decently accurate. It’s’ only drawbacks were that it was a little heavy (being all steel), and, well, it was an Astra. Still, it gets my vote.

Just random ones that interest me. I’ve been interested in astras for awhile. Wife has an engraved cub and brother has a 400. The Bersa I saw while researching small 22 pistols and I thought it looked great. The Taurus pt22 I honestly saw for sale awhile back and researched its tip up barrel and the history behind those.
