All the companies on the list produce quality firearms for the most part. What defines "best"?

Dear Orionerngr as this is a run off poll, there is no other option.
I must apologize to disappoint you.

AND, sorry raliroader CZ is not part of this poll.

Sig must be the best, look at how much they cost new:eek::rolleyes:
HK are the best for filling huge hands:)

HK also makes compact models such as P2000, whcih can survive the most rugged tests.

Sig is good solid reliable pistol.

Not sure what happened to SW voters who thought it was the best!

I appreciate comments with the vote so I can educate myself. I have most from the list, but for a gun collector its a life long job. Thus I will see what wins and if the arguments convince me will buy it as well or all of them if they are voted closely.

I think I may have voted for the one I chose - Colt - simply because it stands to reason that a pistol that was good enough for 97 other companys to copy must be a pretty good design, otherwise they would have all copied something else.......

Why do you keep starting these polls? You have started like 4000 polls since you arrived one month ago. Not only do you start them, you even make extensions of previous polls. Doesn't make sense to me. I suggest you use search engines more and post less.

Sorry guys for being rude, but I wonder if others are noticing the things that I am. Something is beginning to smell quite strongly around here... :scrutiny:

Matt304: Dont like polls? Dont bother with them. Number 4000 is incorrect. I am just trying to figure out things for myself in terms of handguns as their preference with respect to other people. Since I like to know what other people have to say. No need to apologize after being rude, because it does not mean anything.

AND Matt304! Please refrain from accusations in PMs. I do not wish to have confronation with someone I dont even know. I am here on THR to enjoy myself. I am not let you going to ruin it for me. So if you have anything against me or questions please post em here. I do not like being called a liar and neither does anyone else here. I am not sure what you have against me...may be because I am from a country that you dont like?

I have an Old P225 (the BEST deal on the market right now) and a H&K USPc. Both have been awsome pistols and without a doubt they are awsome to shoot. I have shot the newer sigs and they just don't feel right, nor do they have the the build. Anyway, after all is said and done, I feel that H&K continues to improve their pistols while Sig (IMHO) continues to improve thier profit margin at the expense of their quality contol. But that's just me.
good luck

I only voted S&W because of the wide variety of models to choose from, but I guess the same could be said of Ruger.
Firepower, I always find your threads and posts fun & entertaining. You're never impolite I quite enjoy your points of view. Keep them coming

Biscuitninja: I agree with you. If you look at HK P7 and P2000 USP or P30 you can see the evalution, however, regardless of how much I like my P226 I dont see anything that apealing in the newer Sig models that would make me give up my P226 for that. I really like it, and it is the old one from West Germany.

Thank you StrangeLittleMan: However, it seems like some here do not share your view, and think I am posting these threads to stri things up. What things? I have no clue. If I have been rude or have attacked anyone personally, I apologize for that.

I like SW, but I think it is due to where I live that only one in the markets in Pakistan is SIGMA, and I am not too comfortable with. I do not know any other SW pistols, but as per revolvers, I have access to them. They are great.

However, I voted for Glock, because own 19 and 26, and I like the variety of magazine capacities available for them- from 10-31 rounds. I can pick and chose whichever fits my need at the time. I have fired most of the listed except Springfield because we do not get them here in Pakistan. I also like Glock because they virtually offer pistols in most calibers. Also, Glock offers Glock 18c which is on my wish list, if I can find one which is relatively new and for decent price. But for auto pistol, for now, I am settling for Stichken APS- I call a pistol AK- due to its reliability and durability.

Virtually any kind of gun you want is available here in Pakistan. However, when it comes to price it is ridiculous. For example my G26 cost me 6000 US$. HK P200 is for the same, and so. There are lot of SIGMAs in market because US flooded them in Afghnistan. US M4s are available here for the same reason. Some M16s are being locally cut short and fitted with M4 furniture. AUG, SIG, Ruger all these rifles are available. It is just the matter of money. A close to new M4 will cost you about 12000 US$ and so will AUG and SIG 552. Then there is abundance of AK 47s ranging from 200$ to 1500$ depending on condition and origin of make. There is a lot of weapon being manufactured locally, which is of improving quality. I have to give it to those guys since they work without electric most of the time. For example a Beretta 92FS copy is being locally made, and unless you are very familiar with in and out Beretta you wont be able to figure out. So it goes for Holland and Holland side by side shotguns, lot of people got ripped off on those.

The HK stuff...G3 varients MP5 varients etc are available. Belt fed guns are also available so are other extreme weapons.

Weapon of choice is AK47 is since it cheap with no maintnance, and .30 Tokerav pistol- again cheap and low maint.

Market is a little dry on the revolvers, very hard to find new ones since perhaps people here are into auto stuff.

So basically everything is available here short of some handguns makes etc.

On law:
Yes in Pakistan you can legally carry a weapon. There are two types of licenses. One is Non-Prohibited Bore (NPB). This covers 12 guage, .22 Rifle, all handguns AND there is grey area whether it covers other caliber in bolt action. There is no circular out that says you can not- but the registering authority gives you tough time and unless you are forceful and demand to see the law which says that particular gun cannot be registered.

Then there are Prohibited Bore Licenses (PB). They cover everything. They are only issued with the permission of the Prime Minister, which tough (luckily I got it). On PB license you can carry any automatic wepon of any caliber.

You cannot open carry. The weapon must be concealed. Unless you are on private land, where people would have guards with AKs etc.

I had a professor of mine from Michigan State come visit me last two years in row, and she was initially shocked but afterwards when she became comfortable with the cultural difference she fire shots on the range with numerous guns.

I hope this breif summary helps. Any more questions please fire away.

Thank you.

Sig

While I'm not overly enthused with the new Sig P250 I do not believe that it's fair to see a lack of innovation, especially since the 250 is an entirely new way to approach pistol design, along with the DAK.

While these two designs may not do much for you, or I individually for a company that is attempting to increase their market share of the LEA's and Military they must be able to adapt their product output. And adjustable frames/grips and a double action only are what is "in" in those arenas right now.

Also that Sig reworked all their original products to add the DAK, and even better the SAO option for them is A+ in my book.

Lastly finding ways to adjust them, i.e. the Elites, the high-er capacity mags shows a company that is constantly looking for ways to approach new design and improve an already fantastic product.

Lastly they carry products ranging from petite, with the 232, slowly building in size with the 239 to the 228/229/220Carry to fullsize with the 226/220 and finally with the sport/oversize crowd with the X-5 family. Additionally they also cover the midsize/mid cost crowd with the SigPro family, the .22 market with the mosquito and the 1911 crowd (an American Must). They also are now producing a real winner of a rifle with the 556, the original gas system etc. but using the most common 223 magazines on the planet. All for civilian consumption. I'd say that drops them far ahead of HK in that regards. :neener:

Of course that may be a problem for us here in the U.S. more than in Pakistan.

All in all though, you can't go wrong with much on your list, except of course the pony company.

I agree with you. Theses 7 pistols were the highest in the previos poll which had many. Only these crosedd 100 vote barier.

The pistol from this list that I am very curious about is Springfield since I can not get it here in Pakistan and I really want one in 1911 .45.

Ruger I dont own but shot my BILs P89. It was decent.

IN HK I shot there VP70Z USP HKP2000- but I must say that I am not entirely happy with HK P30 since (even there was an article praising it in GUN AMMO mag) I dont see much improvement over P2000, which to me it is a way of enticing gun enthusiats to spend with out giving them more than what they already have.

Buying pistol here in PK is nuts. Most of my family and friends do not agree with my gun collection since it costs too much.

To clear things up, I PM'd Firepower after I posted here describing why I may have said the things I said and attempted to apologize to him, in hope of keeping any public confrontation at bay. PMs are where you discuss private matters, Firepower. Not here.

Since he wants to act childish and portray me to the forum publicly as some antagonist attacking him through PM, I'll just say that I attempted no such thing and was completely polite in my response.

So that's the end, I won't reply to you any more and you won't see me ranting in any more of your threads. Thank you, and sorry to you other folks for having said my words here.

matt304 you did no such thing. I jiust felt personally attacked since ur pm acused me of being liar. Anyway i am sorry if I caused u any anguish. In fact i am still interested what you have say about ur favorite pistol.

I simply stated reasoning behind why my questioning developed, I did not call you a liar. But I'd rather not reply on these issues anymore publicly and force others to read it who want to read about guns.

I did not vote here because I have not owned all of those guns and tested them. I don't like to sway results with my opinion when I cannot make a true comparison between all of the contestants.

I don't own a SIG, but if you ask me, I think they look the prettiest. :)

hummmm.... i was wondering why the thread was so long and then i relized that mr. firepower posts induvdual answers in repeating posts.

Firepower,
all the companies listed in your poll create quality handguns. in fact i own pistols from 4 out of your seven. each for a diffrent reason and, to be honest, i like them all.
polls are all very good and well, but such broad polls don't really serve any purpose. and a poll like this and your other one regarding brand names, will only really spark brand loyalities and battles of who can type the most annoying post of the day.
basically, it does nothing to promote conversation, and to be honest, it gets old fast.
so perhaps in the future, being that you seem to like posting polls, maybe be more specific. some examples that come to mind include:
which of these companies has the best coustomer service?
which of these companies produces the better ( specific type of firearm/caliber/operation type...ext) ?

more detailed questions would provoke more detailed results and spark actual conversation.

Again another "best" poll that is destined to miss the mark because they've failed to include CZ!

Who starts these things anyway?
