I didn't vote. I did own a Bersa 22 and sold it to a guy who used to be a competition shooter whose name I cannot remember then I heard something on it broke and Bersa did not have a spare part for it. I don't know if he ever got it repaired. That was several years ago.

For me a 22 auto starts and stops with the Ruger Standard models. I have two of them. The 4" made in 1976 and a 6" made in 1981. Too big for pocket carry but about the best field use 22 you can get. Good luck wearing one out.

None of the above choices! Colt Woodsman group, Ruger Standard, etc., Hi Standard, ad inf.

Amen!
You might include the Browning Buckmark. Those guns are head and shoulders above any of the others mentioned.

These two posts make me think that many of you have no knowledge of or experience with the Astra Constable. In addition to the Astra I currently have under my roof all four of the above mention pistols, as well as several others of various qualities. I wonder what particular defect you see in the Astra that differentiates it so forcefully. The only real difference between the Astra and the other pistols is the hammer fired DA/SA action versus the single action action of the others. Otherwise they are all quality made, all steel guns that have been around decades.

I'm curious as to what feature of the Astra makes some of you pan it's virtues. I've owned both the .22lr and .380 Constables and both proved very reliable and robust. Any gun that works perfectly for 50 years or so gets my vote. Can I get a Amen?

We don't pan the Astra, we praise the Colt, Ruger and a few others. The guns we praise are woodsman's guns, good for squirrels and other small game and by and large accurate enough for target competition.

Exactly. Huntin'/target sized rimfire pistols versus rimfires that mimic old school compact or subcompact self defense pistols.

Both types have a place for those that want to make a place for them.

In the case of my Bersa .22, it's sized and weighted like a kit gun and is a fun close range plinker. It would make a great companion gun to a Bersa .380, IMO.

I thought that Daewoo made TV'S and small cars
Daewoo makes all kinds of stuff like cars, ships (icebreaker/tankers) ... even guns like their K5 pistol and K2 carbine which is essentially AK upper and AR lower. Almost bought one a friend had but my NHM-91 recoiled softer and my Bushmaster HBAR was more accurate - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daewoo_Precision_Industries_K2

Superior and those 22 pistols, good one.

Just random ones that interest me. I’ve been interested in astras for awhile. Wife has an engraved cub and brother has a 400. The Bersa I saw while researching small 22 pistols and I thought it looked great. The Taurus pt22 I honestly saw for sale awhile back and researched its tip up barrel and the history behind those.
Any interest in 1911 chambered for 22LR?

GSG 1911 is interesting that it is German made (Same as Sig 1911 22LR), hefty in weight and shares many parts with 45ACP 1911, can get threaded barrel model to add suppressor and mine has been producing "interesting" groups at 25 yards which is around 2 inches - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/1911-22lr-conversation-kit.858343/#post-11277242

Then he ought to tell us, best choice for WHAT?

Not mentioned in the first post, but later in the thread. Not really a "what" but perhaps a "want".

Post 7
"I know everyone wants to vote for their favorite that’s not on the list, but this is just a fun poll to vote on three specific ones. I can always post a “what’s your favorite 22 handgun?” Later.."

Question on post 22 "What's the story behind offering those three specific choices?"

That makes the question unanswerable -- we'd have to be inside the poster's head to figure out which one HE would like best.

Ok. I’ll clarify. Which 22 pistol is best for hunting unicorns,Bigfoot, and other mythical beasts? And don’t say 22 is underpowered for such things, all cryptozoological animals are allergic to 22 caliber items.

also, yes “what 22 is best?” is too vague, I agree. I’ll change it to which 22 would you prefer between the three and why?

Is "None of the above" an acceptable answer? If I had my druthers, it would be a Ruger Standard model (mine is a MKII), a Colt Woodsman (mine was made in 1936), a Colt Officers Model Target and maybe a Browning Buckmark (which I don't have.)

None on the list.

Keltec P17
Ruger Mark IV

Neither one the two listed above have jammed to date. The Keltec is one of only 2 handguns that I have never had to adjust sights (left handed cross eye dominant) to hit a bullseye.

None of the above is not an acceptable answer. It would be one of the above or don't answer. I know there's better guns. I know there's more expensive guns. I know that ruger marks apparently rarely jam (not in my experience). I was just asking between the three listed.

I agree but I think the OP is interested in a carry piece. Me, I prefer something a little higher powered for carry. My .22 handguns only see a sizable shoulder rig for woods carry

Asks for opinions on the internet rather than doing research... Gets upset when the opinions don't match narrowly (and poorly) defined criteria.

Internet forums like these are all about sharing opinions, and there are a lot of them (both forums and opinions). Just learn to weed through the info you don't want to find what you do want. Telling people their responses are unacceptable is not a good way to encourage discussion or make friends. Try starting discussions with more information than a 5 word question. Knowing why you'll only consider those three choices, what is your intended use, and what are your criteria for "superior" would help a lot. Offer more and you will get more.

He asked me if none of the above is an acceptable answer, and I answered his question. This wasn’t about what’s the best 22 pistol or what is your personal favorite. This wasn’t about me finding and choosing a ccw. I was just just putting up a poll between three pistols in a vs poll. That’s all. I apologize if anyone took offense to describing rules in the poll, it didn’t mean to be mean or snarky.

Hoyte hasn't been here that long, and I am sure entry into a new setting can be intimidating no matter what. Hoyte, we like to think that we can focus on issues that people encounter, and bring better-than-average experience to bear. We try not to be a social club that tosses things out to get conversation started.

We appreciate that you had an honest question, but it's like courts that refuse to give advisory opinions when all the facts are not on record--plenty of actual controversy to try to resolve without traveling down hypothetical routes. When you are making a purchase decision, we will try to help but results will reflect input, and you are free to disregard.

See TheWarhammer's response +1.......

Bersa 22 cal its been on Earths since Dinos, I will vouch for the Bersa.
The only attractive if you dare to called in that way, is the taurus high capacity mags.
Constable parts are hard to find.
