Working on an AR build, .224V, and looking for stock suggestions. Something durable, don't need a lot of bells and whistles. Just a good, solid fixed stock, set my LOP and cheek, and for the most part be done with it. Rifle now has a carbine buffer tube set up, but I wouldn't mind switching to an A2 buffer.

I see lots of Magpul, Luth-AR, FAB defense, etc. out there but I'm sure there's more choices.

Suggestions please?

- Many Thanks!

My favorite right now is the Magpul UBR.

I like that as well, exception being I'd like a fixed stock vs. collapsible.

Seriously considering the MOE stock, and using spacers for LOP tweaking, and creating a cheek riser....

And the Rock River Arms Operator A2 stock looks nice....

The magpul is nice but I wish they made a slightly larger spacer for a slight increase in LOP. It seems to work well for most though, I'm 6'3 and have longer arms and I find my magpul fixed to be a nice stout fixed stock. Just another 1/2" would be nice. For all I know there is a way to increase it, not sure.

I really can't believe they haven't made a fixed stock styled in like an A1/A2 that just slips over the tube and fastens on like the Mag fixed but has the aesthetic of the old style. I would be all over that.

Like this? Or more old school like a real A2 stock?
I think there are spacers available for the buttpad.

Like an A1, I forgot that I actually started a thread on the subject some time ago. Some pointed out that it probably didn't exist because it was all too easy to just put a rifle tube and buffer setup to accommodate an A1. I thought it was a good idea. I don't have a problem with swapping a few parts but alot of people don't want to crank a wrench on anything and just want something that ready to slip right on and go.

I do want an A1 stock on my carbine just to have one that's different and I like the aesthetic, I just sat on my hands and now I'm thinking it will be very costly although rifle parts are much less sought after than carbine typically. I just kind of wish they did a fixed A1 style stock that would fit on a carbine tube. I think they would be pretty popular.

I also think quite a few people have upgraded/tuned springs and buffers to their preference, it would be nice to keep those preferences while being able to slip an A1 style stock onto their setup with no fuss.

That would be cool, old-school with new internals.
The stocks with a ton of adjustments look kinda neat, but I can't see myself making adjustments that often, and I envision hardware coming loose.
I'd like to just set-it-and-enjoy-it.

I have two Luth-ARs, one fixed and one carbine. They have another, even lighter and simpler, carbine and adjustable as well. Perfect for an SBR.

But I like the fixed rifle stocks. They are strong, light, come with cheek riser and LOP adjustments. The adjustments are done with an Allen wrench and some good finger knobs, they won’t be getting loose. However, my great long neck and fat head like just the plain stock without the precision cheek weld stuff.

And I can wrap my meat hooks around it and carry the rifle like an axe.:)

Bingo.;)
Once it fits like a glove, there won’t be any need to change it.
Even the carbine stocks can be tightened with a hex and fixed in place.

For a fixed stock on a precision rifle I like the MAGPUL PRS. For a collapsible, I like the MAGPUL CTR, with Larue RISR (a reciprocating cheek piece that moves when you operate the charging handle). Another good collapsible stock is the VLTOR clubfoot (it has a bottom "block" to sit on a rear bag). The only downside of the VLTOR is the jigsaw design of it will get facial hair stuck in it if you have any, so you will have to cover it with rigger tape. My carbine in my avatar has an old VLTOR clubfoot stock, if you can make it out.

This.
They are very nice if one doesn’t mind the weight and price. But the rearward weight helps a lot with balance, which is a plus.

Agreed.

Best of both worlds (fixed and adjustable) the added weight balances out the longer/heavier barrel on a precision build. The adjustments really help out when working with younger shooters or going to cold weather clothing for late season coyotes.

I have that one on my DMR, very nice for non adjustable type.

I have both the LuthAR and MagPul PRS stocks. The LuthAR is definitely light weight compared to the MagPul. I prefer the MagPul since it is more robust. IMO the LuthAR is flimsy, but is about half the price of the MagPul PRS too.

I have mag-puls on several longs and aside from a slight weight increase, I love them.

The original style ACE are damn hard to beat. Have a couple of those as well. Light and very functional.

Todd.
