I got this along with a bunch of 7.62x39 new brass. I dont really want to load up the new brass just for blasting ammo through mac90, other ammo cheaper.

I see it has uses in light 223 but I don't load that light of bullets. Full 8 lb jug of it. 20200323_091106.jpg

I've used 1680 in 300 Blackout. I reload a few other cartridges that 1680 is suitable for but I do not remember off hand if I tried it there. I've slept a few times since I last looked at my reloading records.

Here is a link to Western Powders reloading data Ver 7.0. Before each section, pistol and rifle, they have a chart showing the powders and what cartridge they are used with.

Lol thx for the chart. Very handy. I load for all of zero rounds it lists for the powder. I guess in try to swap for something I need. Thx all.

What it looks like. Uncle has a 454 I bet it was planned for but jeez 8 lbs would have loaded a lot of ammo.

I have used it in the .357 Max with good results. I'll bet it would be good in the 350 legend and some other straght walled magnum type cartridges. It produces a hefty fireball in shorter barrels.

I bought 2lbs for use in 45-70Govt.

The beach ball sized fire balls this stuff produces from a 22" barrel was quite comical.

The blast and blinding, flinch inducing fire ball was too much for me. I still have most of the 2 pounds and have never found another use for it.

I purchased the 1680 a while back (8lbs of it) for my 375 win (Favorite for hunting),Usually load the Rl7. Also use for the 357 maximum. FPS is great and accurate enough.
Acquired a 223 Barrel for my encore in a trade (Groundhogs!), found some load data Accurate had from back in 2003..... Does anyone have accuracy experience with this powder and that Caliber. I know! it’s not the normal use for it. However, load data from manufacturer is what I have with mucho amount of the powder. Thanks for informing.

I have that same manual from back when I tried AA1680 in a Mini-30. I didn't get good accuracy with it, mostly because I was such a rookie that I was using .308 projectiles instead of .311 or .312. I suppose I should be grateful that I'm still alive.

I do have almost 2,000 grains left and was planning on using it up on some plinking fodder for .223 Remington. According to the manual, that'll be enough for 100 rounds of safe loads.

Try some in your Encore and let us know how it works.

Guys... Thank you for being cool about info. This is my first post. I anticipated “ That’s not in the updated manuals, therefore your not being a safe person during reloading”. “You need to look for another powder or how long have you been reloading”?
Point being..... I’m safe, very cautious been loading for years and have data from manufacturer. Glad to see a response that isn’t a gang attack for a question that isn’t the norm. Love the highroad , been reading a long time.

Oh and I looked at The link provided, and 1680 certainly isn’t a option when the 223 c add liber is selected.

What what information I have, it’s not the best for 223. So perhaps I’ll look to trade it for something that is. Thank you to all who responded.... Wish I could Het more “good” response for 223 use. Please continue to respond with info.

I'm assuming you got the 7.62x39 brass to reload eventually?

1680 is one of the best powders available for 7.62x39.

Try doing a search for "best 7.62x39 powder".

Just sayin'... :)
