was wondering this - and then thought why not start a thread.

What guns did what famous people own?

Do you own any guns, because of the novelty that a famous or historic figure owned it? If so what is it and who owned it?

Presidents Coolidge, Truman, and Eisenhower were all presented with Winchester '94s

I had a small collection of assassin guns going, but it was unintentional. BP Deringer (Lincoln) Colt Cobra (L.H Oswald) and IJ Cadet (RFK). Oh, and a 1911. (attempt on Ford) Never found a Browning 1910 (Archduke Franz Ferdinand) in my price range, Never really wanted a Carcano (JFK, as we are led to believe), or an RG14 (attempt on Reagan), and I can't remember what Czogolz used on Mckinley, or Guiteau used on Garfield.
This unintended collection was liquidated some years ago.

I have owned a Browning A5 and Superposed, Winchester Models 12, 21, and 61, and a Colt Woodsman all because of Ernest Hemingway. I wanted an English style game gun because of Hemingway's W&C Scott pigeon gun so I got a Bernadelli game gun because it was more affordable.

I probably wont be able to ever get the Griffin and Howe Springfield Sporter or the Westley Richards .577 Nitro Express. Of course there are many others but these are the highlights of his guns. The only one I still have is the Bernadelli.

He was my Grandfather's cousin. I have an autographed set of his books.
I had no idea he was a gun person.

HK sold a lot of Two-Tone USP Match pistols and they still command a premium price thanks to Angela Jolie & Tomb Raider

The IMI Desert Eagle got famous thanks to The Keanu Reeves Matrix ... I don’t know that Keanu is a “gun guy” but when he does a movie, he does all his own gun “stunts” and I’ve read somewhere that he training with military & para-military trainers.

gawd my memory sucks!

I have a Colt Cobra which I'm pretty sure (model) Ruby used to cap Oswald in the belly.

Also have a 1903 and John Dillinger PEN1 famously carried a Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless and was found on his person when he was shot down outside the Biograph.

There was a thread a few days back going on Presidents and guns, not sure if it was brought up but George Jr. was given a personal sidearm of saddam's, a Glock18. I was always curious if George ever starts feeling frisky after a few toddies and takes his Glock18 on the back 40 and rips, lol. :D BTW, are Presidents past and present exempt from NFA regs???

I'm pretty sure Ted Nugent's (papa nugeo_O) favorite sidearm and personal carry guns are G20 and G29 in 10mm.

I'll come back and edit, I know more will come to mind and will add as I think of them.... interesting topic.

Oh geez, missed the intent of the post all together. I also had an unintentional gun from an assassination, Remington 760 30-06 from the MLK murder. But have i bought a specific piece because of a famous provenance, no

I read somewhere that Steve McQueen owned a 357mag that he carried fearing the Manson's were coming for him.

Warn Zevon had a Smith model 29 that he put on one of his album covers.

None that I own have been from anyone of note.

WB

Full auto shark repellant as that picture is most likely on his boat, I think I see a large rod there. Yeah, a Thompson as a boat gun...among others.

The Labor Day Hurricane was one of the most powerful hurricanes to ever hit the US. People in the keys were hunkering down or trying to evacuate (even though it was way too late by that time) Hemingway was making his way to the marina to make sure his boat was OK. All that chaos and he was most concerned about his boat.

What a legend.

Stephen Spielberg has quite a collection. Yes, Mr. Anti Gun likes guns. Ready for another surprise? Rachel Maddow's partner is an NRA member and a shooter. She took Rachel to the range one day, with an AR-15 in tow. Rachel had an absolute blast. If you look closely you can see the AR on the table

Spielberg was on the cover of some upscale shooting mag (that is gone) many years ago with a sports shotgun. Rachel is a gun person and talks about taking a first date to the range. You can find her shooting an AR and 1911. Says she loves to shoot. However, she thinks guns should be kept at the range and checked out for sports usage.
