What is the most recent knife you bought?

I admire people who can do a nice job with homemade knife making.

If I made one, with my skills it would probably look like a prison shiv, and a poorly made one at that.

Williams Blade Design shobu zukuri kaiken, manufactured by TRC Knives in Lithuania. Blade is 4.5" of M390 with TRC's 'Apocalypse' finish at RC60-61, handle is natural canvas micarta. Great taco-style kydex sheath with perfect retention, a ledge to pop the knife out with your thumb, and a little drain hole at the blade tip. Handle surprisingly isn't as aggressive as it looks, it needs aggressive retention since it's a guardless design, but they hit the right balance and the angles on the handle are sharp enough for retention but not sharp enough to cut a bare hand.

I dig the totally utilitarian look of that knife, and it looks really well done. Very nice.

Nothing fancy, just a Spyderco Para 3 in S45VN. I used to hate how these looked but wanted to give one a try. It has the best ergonomics of any knife I’ve handled and the action is ridiculously smooth. I’ve got more Spydercos on the way as a result. They use about a zillion different steels so I’m looking forward to sampling some.

What do think of the Native 5? I have one in the CPM S35VN and really like it.

It feels well built/stout, the action is smooth and the FRN is comfortable, but I’ve only handled it sitting around and haven’t put it to work yet. The jimping is rather sharp compared to my other Spydercos I will say. I’ve got a deep carry clip coming for it. I just put one on my Para 3 and it makes a huge difference. I’m looking forward to seeing how the SPY27 performs.
