Going to look at a Kimber Ultra Carry II after lunch.
It's the stainless version, comes with 2 mags, an Alien Gear holster, a box and a half of ammo and he says it's only got about 50 rounds through it and it worked fine.
His add said $750 or best offer.
I was gonna offer $600 cash.
Any opinions on what it's worth, what I should pay for it, or if I should just leave it alone?

The Alien Gear holster has no value to me, and I'd probably throw it out or give it away, but $750 is reasonable for a Kimber Ultra Carry II. I'm making no claims on how good or bad the gun is, just that it would be a reasonable price for that gun, if the gun is in good shape.

If it is a gun you want, that $600 - $750 would seem reasonable.

Bought a two-tone one in 9mm in October off GB, paid roughly $725 for it. If he takes $600, that’s a very good deal. I shot the UC II again today, it’s a great compact 1911.

The UC II isn’t a target gun; the big dots on the sights and short sight radius handicap my ability to shoot match-winning groups, but they’re excellent for drawing under a garment and for quick target acquisition in a ccw situation.

If you get it, let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance. :)

Stay safe.

$600-700 seems reasonable for a lightly used Ultra carry. I had a two tone and it was fine, ran OK but had more pop in .45 than I preferred for a carry gun, too slow on splits.

If you have issues, pay attention to mags (I’ve had a number of Kimber mags that were complete garbage, though the gun itself ran fine with good mags) or extractor tension. My Ultra needed a little adjustment of the extractor to run perfect. It’s not a hard process if you haven’t done it, just takes a little time to get it tensioned right.

Agree on the holster not adding value, they are cheap.

Personal thoughts, now is a horrible time to buy most any firearm unless the deal is good on what you want. I’m not a fan of Kimber 1911s though that is my prejudice, not a meaningful data point.

If I were looking at it I’d want a purpose, I’d want to know that it has everything I want in a compact 1911, and I’d want to know that it runs. Don’t be afraid to ask for a test drive, and feel free to walk away.

Consider this on price, even for a “good deal”; $200 difference in automobiles between a car, and the car you really want would be a no-brainer. If it isn’t what you really want, and there’s something else you do want, refer back to that.

I bought a stainless UC 9 a few years ago and it's a wonderful shooter. Have a Colt Defender 9 as well and the Kimber is much more accurate, better trigger.

I had one I purchased used and it was very accurate and it was 45 ACP. Traded in for a new Kimber UL in 9mm and they gave me $600 in trade against the new one. I paid $700 for the 45 used several years ago.

Price and a great size for CC use...let us know how it shoots: accuracy and reliability. Best regards, Rod

Found an issue already.
So far the accuracy is excellent, no complaints, but I did get a couple rounds that just went click. I gave the back of the slide a good whack to make sure it was in battery, and it didn't help, but when I ejected that round, the rest fired fine. The round I ejected had absolutely no marks on the primer, and when I put it back in the gun, it fired fine.
I wonder if I have crud in the striker channel maybe?
I haven't had a chance to take it apart, but that's all I can think of.
Any suggestions?

Kimber "II"'s have a firing pin block activated/deactivated by the grip safety. It's possible you may not have had a proper grip on the gun and that could have caused the problem, or the firing pin safety may be out of sync and may need to be serviced.

Husker, if you understand this you should be capable of correcting the issue. Read it, look at the pictures, watch the linked video, and test yours. https://www.1911forum.com/threads/tuning-the-kimber-style-swartz-safety.301653/

First I would also recommend replacing the FPS with a Series 70 EGW or a Wilson Hardcore, which will require a small bit of fitting. Then grab that chainsaw file and go slow.

I took it apart last night and cleaned and oiled it, took it out right before dark today and it shot perfect.
I wonder if I wasn't gripping the grip tight enough to engage that Schwartz safety thing?
Anyway, i cleaned, lubed and paid more attention to my grip and it seems to be fine now.
I'll take it out this weekend and run some more through it, but I think it's fine.

If it’s marginal it will be sensitive to grip and possibly chew up other parts. If optimized, it will never be an issue and will go bang when you want.

Not quite, I paid $670.
Still not too bad.
Got home too late to shoot it, but I'll be out in the morning taking it for a spin.
You didn't get hurt at all on that. I saw a lightly used one go at auction a few months ago for $900, my go to gun place here has a new one on the shelf now for $849. I have some Kimbers, my Pro II TLE is my fav of all my handguns.

Nice pistol I’ve had one for years. Do yourself a favor and get the NDZ takedown tool. Best 15-$20 you will ever spend on some plastic.
