Declining dollar purchasing power coupled with limited supply , makes $80 a steal. Even if demand drops or supply rises I don't expect them to back to salad day pricing.

Look at PPI vs CPI indexes, mfg are eating costs currently.

When you combine a short supply chain with inflation prices for everything goes up.

I picked up a Hunt Brothers pizza yesterday. Two years ago they were $7.95 each. Last year they were $9.95. The one I bought yesterday was $13.00. At the beginning of summer Nitro golf balls (which are the cheapest you can find) were $5.99/dozen. Last month they were $6.99. I checked a couple days ago and they were $8.99. Prices for everything are going north. I’m afraid that the days of $39/1000 primers are gone with the wind. I’m betting that when the dust settles that $75/1000 will be the norm. $65 if we’re lucky.

Just when I get to a point where I’m making a pretty good living, I find out that I have the same purchasing power that I did 20 years ago.

I have to say 80-90 dollars is a deal considering current state of affairs.

My BIGGEST fear is what if the price does not fall back and this is the new standard price......

Yes I am stocked very well for this moment, however I am buying what I am shooting and not going into my "reloading savings account".

I have a "supply"because I spent the time (8 years) to prioritize the acquisition of supplies and the money because I only live once and shooting was my only hobby and fournently i worked too much to do anything so everything built up.

Life will change one day either health, job loss, or if I voluntary change professions, what ever and the money will change. I fear I like millions of others will not be able to afford to shoot and we will be prices out of rights....

The time to buy is when you have money, at least when your broke you got nice things lol.

Our LGS that had primers occasionally over the past 6 months or so for $59-$69 a brick has jumped prices up considerably in the past month or so. Went in yesterday. CCI SRP we’re $109 a brick. Powders went up too. $43 to $50 a pound :fire:

Cabela's in ABQ finally had small pistol primers in stock for $86 with tax. I bought one box. Which was the limit. I was surprised to see it though.

For me it’s online availability or none at all.

The last primers I bought were July 2020 & November 2020 before Cabela’s (30 miles away) quit online powder/primer sales & in store pickup.

With no shipping nor hazmat, I paid $32/1000 for 13K LPP and 5K SPP.

Were pretty expensive purchases but man do I wish I’d bought more.

Watched a Discovery Channel show about the supply chain problems. I’d say we’re lucky to get much of anything at any price.

Edit: and let me say I saw nothing coming, hadn’t a clue whether the prices were good bad or indifferent, I just knew the local gun shows were canceled, read what folks said here, and I love shooting so I bought primers.

I believe primer prices will fall. Not anytime soon, but eventually. And not back to pre-Wuhan Flu prices, but well below current pricing.

Time will tell.

Good to hear WSP's showing up. Have not seen them for sale for a long time. Been mostly CCI and Federal.

Yes, same here! When you can't find 'em any cheaper than 129-149 per 1k, 80-90 looks pretty good! Beggars (and that's me right now!) can't be choosers and, if prices ever do go down? Well, I've learned a valuable ($$$) lesson...

My local got a shipment of Win primers, He was selling them for 75 bucks a brick limit 5 bricks. I needed SPs so I grabbed 3. Yeah it's high but try to find them any cheaper these days and no hazmat to boot. I have a feeling that prices may not slide back for quite awhile if at all and I need to shoot.
