Was at two local shops today, and at the first one I found some primers with no limit. I bought two bricks of CCI 450's at $130/1000, and left at least that many for any one else who may need them. They also had some powder, 1# and 8# jugs. Nothing I needed and the price was about $50 for singles and $300 for the jugs.

The second shop also had some powder and primers, as well as bullets. Very limited quantity of powder and primers, but better prices. I bought a brick of CCI lrp for $100/1000. They only had about five bricks of primers, of various types.

The good news is that while talking to the counter guy at the second shop I was told that they were expecting a shipment of powder and primers sometime later today. When I asked how many primers they were expecting, the answer surprised me, 30K primers! I was told it would be a couple of days before they were put in the system and on the shelf for sale. I don't need any powder and so I never thought to ask how much they were expecting, nor did I ask a price on powder.

So, it looks like a light at the end of the tunnel.

If any one is interested, the second LGS is Flat Top Arms located in Beckley, WV.

About 2 hours ago I received a notification that MidwayUSA had CCI small pistol magnum primers in stock. I ordered one brick for $89.

Total shipping and hazmat fee brought final price to $129.00. It is what it is. I wanted them. I paid the price. Not losing sleep over it. Around here I haven’t seen primers on shelves in 3+ years. My free time is worth more to me than driving around stores looking for them.

Okay thanks

Beckley is only 41/2 hours from me. Be there soon.

Beckley WV… were I learned to Ski.

At $100/1000 only if I need it. But it’s good to see rural areas get such a large supply of components! Things are looking UP!!!

I am glad to see primers trickling out there to local shops. But that price is way too much to pay unless I get desperate. I'm not there YET. My favorite LGS gets some in occasionally. They have been charging $95/1000. I really don't even want go that high YET but even so I am never there when something I want is available.

I recently bought 4k Win. spp, 2k CCI spp, 5 unopened 1lb bottles of Win231 and an unopened pound of Titegroup for $500 off a local board. Way more than I've ever paid for powder & primers, no matter how you divide it up but a pretty good deal nowadays.

One way—the mountains aren’t like the Rockies but they’re right smack in the middle of every darned road between DC & WV.

Two hours might be nice but not four.
Yeah, I know that’s how it is with us, too. And gas prices, I won’t get started.
Anyway like I said from the start, expensive but available beats cheap but unobtainium. Any day.

Where are you getting reloading stuff on the wet side if not mail order?

After the supply backfills and product sits for more than a day, prices will slowly fall.

They already have fallen a bit. The first shop had primers at $15/100 recently, and the second shop didn't have any the same day.

And at $15/100 I told them to keep them. But at $13/100 I picked some up since I had less than a brick left.

Since this is my first reloading drought, I've been learning a lot. Paying high prices here and there compared to when I started loading ~4 years ago. Reminds me of the Clinton era gun/magazine ban. I certainly won't get caught short again.
