Hello there. I am heavy a hard time finding information on load development for the Sierra GameKing 125 grain for the .308. I will be shooting it at coyotes with my LaruePredatAR. Also I have plenty of TAC, IMR 3031, BL(C)-2 and Varget powder on hand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Sonny

I had good luck with TAC and 130 gr Barnes bullets. It would be my pick for lighter 308 bullets

Personally, I would use IMR3031... it's what I use for 110grn Hornady V-max in .308, out of my 16" M1a, with good results. I would give TAC a try as well.

I have a lot of Varget so I try to find uses for it. I have used it in lighter .308 loads including sierra 135 grain varmint bullet and the125 grain Nosler BT bullets but I think TAC is a better choice and it would be my preference. That's where I left off with that project. I seem to end up with compressed loads with Varget which is no biggie unless you have a redding micrometer seater die. Seems like I ended up needing a drop tube for Varget in fact but it seems to produce tiny little groups for me so I still like it just fine.

Guy I knew was shooting those during the standing stage of NRA Highpower. He was using IMR 4895. I would say, if you have IMR 3031, that ought to be excellent for that combination.

IMO 308 is the easiest cartridge I've ever loaded for. It seems just about any powder gives good results with all of the common bullet weights. Every time one of these threads comes up you will find guys getting good results with a wide variety of powder.

The page I posted above is for the SGK you’re loading for, right out of the Sierra manual. You have 2 of the 17 powders listed in your inventory. Of those 2, I would lean towards IMR 3031. If you wanted to shop for one of the other and came across some VV N135, that’s what I would use

Not shooting the Sierra GameKing, but a very similar 125gr bullet.
I’ve been using 44 grains of the good old standby, 4064, with decent results.
