Ruger reports significant drop in sales

Only slightly on topic, but with every passing year I become more perplexed why Remington or some competitor hasn’t resurrected the 7615 carbine for the ban state market. Especially for CA where an AR can’t have a detachable magazine.
Why would they when an M1A can be had in a CA legal configuration? The 7615 doesn't offer anything my M1A can't provide.

Sure it does. It offers the ability to use cheap AR mags and shoot 223 ammo. Plus it was about 1/2 the cost. I have an M1A and it’s a chunky beast compared to a 223 platform.

Firearms will suffer just like any other normal good in a recessionary or high inflationary environments.

RIght now you are seeing Ruger's sales adjust back down to the norm after the crazy year they had in 2021. The question really is can Ruger and the industry as a whole survive the stagflation.

I think there is still a good market for new gun owners, but I think the market for people buying their 4th, 5th, 6th, gun is going to be very soft in the not too distant future.

Maybe. I hope though that the market is going to remain about the same for those of us that aren't at either end of that spectrum. I'm 74, and can't even see "4th, 5th or 6th gun," much less being a "new gun owner" in my rearview mirror anymore.
Nevertheless, a few days ago I posted that I'm thinking about buying myself one of them Ruger Wranglers with a bird head grip - just to have around. And I'm probably going to get myself a lever action .38-55 Winchester one of these days just because I think it would be fun. Besides those two guns, I'm still kind of stinging from having to put the money we had set aside for a new .257 Weatherby down our well last summer. We're back on top now (got plenty of "cool, clear water" too) and a new .257 Weatherby might make the "sting" from putting that money down our well go away. ;)

It wouldn’t be half the cost of an AR if resurrected. I’d bet a solid amount that it would be double the cost of an M&P-15 in the current market. There’s a reason it died on the vine the first time and that’s because it wasn’t popular.

Half the cost of an M1A, not an AR. And I realize it wasn’t popular, but that was before so many states passed “assault weapon” bans. It was a product ahead of its time.

Look at what they sell for on GunBroker now.

Honestly, in the current environment, I’m not sure they wouldn’t be close to an M1A in price.

Back in the day I really liked the idea, and if I had seen one in person I probably would have bought one.

Well gee Ruger I wonder why, could it be the item that your company makes went from $800 to $1200 over night? That was the one product I was looking at, how many others are there.
.
This is my thoughts exactly. I own a ‘64 Mk I, Blackhawk, Charger pistols in .22 & 9mm, two American bolt actions and a Mini 14. Glad I bought the last few a few years before their price jump. Ruger is still a solid brand but not the bargain it used to be. When a $440 rifle jumps to $660 overnight you’re gonna look twice at other brands. I don’t think sales are slowing with other brands.
