That’s a nice looking press
Lee Precision has embraced the "Open Source" approach to product development with "Real Time" collaboration with customers/end users to develop and improve their product lines. That’s a nice looking press
Press documentation recommends STP, Vasoline or grease to lubricate the turret (30 weight motor oil or STP on all other parts).I am curious, Lee suggests STP or grease to lubricate the turret, which do you suggest?
Yes, original breech lock bushing (Without lock ring) would work with any Lee "breech lock" press but you would need to use either O-ring lock ring or Ultimate bolt locking ring - https://leeprecision.com/search?q=lock+ringCan the old breech lock bushings be used on this press? They were for the single stage press.

... Tomorrow, I will move onto disassembly of press.
[ETA: Better solution discussed in post #165 - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...iguration-turrets.926488/page-7#post-12842326]instructions ... use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the detent pin
- Drop detent pin upside down at 4 o'clock hole to hold tool carrier/turret
Mine works a lot better since I took the carrier out dropped a couple pieces of #7.5 shot under it and reinstalled itMy Lyman 8 or 7 (so many holes) is hard to beat! except the priming system
but I would love to see a Rock Chucker size Turret press.
You won’t be able to turn the turret without removing your bracket and the detent pin that you couldn’t remove will hit the bolt on the way up. Can’t you grab the detent pin with a pliers and unscrew the philps screw?Spent the afternoon addressing the single stage mode issue and found the instructions moot as upside down detent pin would simply rotate with the tool carrier/turret.
Came up with a proof of concept solution that I will forward to Calvin which involves a bracket that mounts under the ring bolt (Installation would be done with detent pin holding the tool carrier/turret) and drop in pin would hold the tool carrier/turret steady for single stage mode operation.

How can the turret rotate with the detent sticking through the slot of the plate below the turret?Spent the afternoon addressing the single stage mode issue and found the instructions moot as upside down detent pin would simply rotate with the tool carrier/turret.

Nice looking press! A lot going on there for sure.
Good morning. How can the turret rotate with the detent sticking through the slot of the plate below the turret?
It's like that on all the presses using the same ram/linkage due to newness of tube (Classic Cast Turret, Classic Cast Single/.50 BMG, Six Pack Pro and now Ultimate Turret Press). The primer drop tube rubs on the press linkage and starts to walk the tube off the nipple, The tube stayed on ok but not sure it would stay on longer use, so put a 18 MM spring hose clamp on over the drop tube and nipple.
It won't. Mine seems to come off within about 50 roundsThe tube stayed on ok but not sure it would stay on longer use
I started with by putting a zip tie on the hose on my Classic Cast single stage...works okay unless I move the press off the bench.so put a 18 MM spring hose clamp on over the drop tube and nipple.
Wonder if using hair dryer/heat gun to put a bend/radius then cooling in cold water to set the bend/radius would help?I started with by putting a zip tie on the hose on my Classic Cast single stage...works okay unless I move the press off the bench.

I sent Calvin an email regarding primer collection tube "walking" off the ram nipple.Mine seems to come off within about 50 rounds

Yup, those are the ones i found on Amazon Comes in Silver, Golden ($0.10 less), or Black ($2more)View attachment 1196445
This is the type of clamp I used.
I have a silly question why do you have to fiddle with the detent pin or drill holes when using without the indexer. Can't you simply pump the handle up and down, doesn't seem like there is any thing that would move the turret durring any operation. Assuming the index rod is removed. Every time the ram goes up the detent pin would align the turret. What are you and Lee getting at or trying to achieve?Good morning.
UPDATE to "To use as single stage press" - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...iguration-turrets.926488/page-7#post-12841668
Late reply ... Been busy with drill and diamond files even before morning coffee. Yes, you are correct and I am in agreement (Updated my previous post).
There is a slot cut out in the "bearing plate" the detent pin goes through to hold the tool carrier/turret. After looking at the tool caddy/Safety Primer holder, I noticed two open boxes built into underside and decided to duplicate the slot at 11 o'clock hole so I didn't have to drill through tool caddy.
Detent pin measured 13/64" (.203") so I used 3/16" (.185") drill bit to make the initial hole and used diamond files to finish the slot shape. So dropping 13/64" pin/bolt would now hold the tool carrier/turret with bearing plate slot when index rod is removed (And we don't have to fuss with removing hard pressed in detent pin that I was not able to take out even when clamped into the vise with me pulling/hammering).
I already sent Calvin an email about this issue and will wait to hear back.

And final proof of concept DIY solution (I used a hex bolt at 11 o'clock position for demonstration but 13/64" pin would need to be used) to hold tool carrier/turret for single stage mode use without having to mess with removing the detent pin.

ETA: Using 13/64" drill bit holds the tool carrier/turret steady like the detent pin
