Things that you've never done that most shooters have done?

This will bug alot of folks here but...

1, I've never shot an AR that was up to my standards when it comes to reliability.
they couldn't make it through a range day without a jam, FTF, or having problems with magazines.

other than that:
2, Never shot a full auto
3, Never shot a Mil Surp.
4, Never shot a battle rifle chambered in .308 .
5, Never fired .17HMR, 10mm, .40, .270, 7mm Mag, .300 Win Mag, .338 Win Mag, .25-06, 7mm-80, .454 Casull and more but it would take too long to list.
6, Never owned a 10/22. Probably won't.
7, Never shot a Panda bear.
8, Never shot beyond 200 yards.
9, Never shot anyone or myself (airsoft and paintball don't count do they?).
10, Never liked or wanted to own a pistol caliber semi-auto rifle.

That should about do it...

I have never

done cowboy action shooting
killed game with a handgun
shot at more than 550 yards

Now for the things I DON'T want to do:
have an ND
KB a firearm
get "made" while CCW
argue with my wife about firearms (except over who's using what today)

I do not have a box of useless holsters that didn't work for me. I decided on one, purchased it, and have worn it happily for 5+ years now.

I have never:

Handloaded my own ammo
Shot a muzzleloader
Shot a blackpowder rifle
Hunted
CCW
Shot in a formal competition
Shot trap/skeet/sporting clays

.... shot a Glock 7
I'd like to meet the person who has.

I've never fired a Garand or a 1903A3. :uhoh:

I've never fired my 7mm Remchester Ultra Super Mag Sabot 5 times in a year and then gone deer hunting with it. :neener:

Farnham

I've never been hunting either. Virtually all of my guns are milsurps or kit guns so I've never shot most of the modern hunting rifle calibers.

I've never:
-fired a centerfire rifle, I'm still working on getting my first. Study got in the way, now it's where I live.
-Never fired a semi-auto, and probably never will with the current gun laws.
-Never fired a handgun, and like the above, probably never will due to the current laws.

Basicly there's a stack of stuff I havn't done yet, but I'd like to.

Only thing that i have not done, that based on what i've observed most of the rest of my fellow shooters have done at some point in their shooting lives...

fired a shotgun shell that contained a payload that was NOT #7 or smaller shot. no slugs not buckshot none of those weird "novelty rounds" just run of the mill dove & quail loads, or Winchester AAs made for trap and skeet.

I've never visited the Blackpowder, Harley Nolden, or Gunsmithing sections of THR.

Wow. I thought I had a fairly limited experience, but I've done about everything above but go elk or bear hunting or shoot at a person (been real tempted a few times) Like to go on a PD hunt next year

Never fired .17HMR, 10mm, .40, .270, 7mm Mag, .300 Win Mag, .338 Win Mag, .25-06, 7mm-80, .454 Casull

Never thought about it much, but I've shot every one of these except the 7mm-08. Own 5 of these calibers right now. At one time or another, I've owned a 12,16,20,28 gauge and .410

Went deer hunting about 6 hours ago with a 12 ga, 3" slugs. Killed 50+ deer over the years. FWIW, I shoot 3" Remington copper solids. They get your attention, but I've fired guns that kicked worse. Need a good recoil pad. Makes a world of difference

I've got several single shots (including a .45-90). Fired about every caliber listed including elephant rifles. Have a mil-surp. Been in rifle competitions up to 1,000 yards. Shot full auto. Load my own. Shoot clays. Killed about everything that flies, walks, or crawls around here

I'm suprised more guys here don't handload. It's really pretty easy and saves a ton of money on bigger calibers.

Yeah there's another one. My 870 is capable of shooting 3" shells and slugs (with its 18" cylinder barrel) yet i've never shot either.

I do OWN slugs and 3" magnums but...i'm afraid :p

Don't be a sissy! ;)

Actually, a couple rounsd of it out of that short barrel gives me a slight headache! But it seriously isn't so bad.

As for what I haven't done, I have never...

...shot at an indoor range
...participated in action shooting events (yet! I need to find some near me!)
...never handloaded

And probably some other stuff. I'm surprised that some of you have never fired long guns!

I Never...

Shot a Handgun cal. bigger than a .44 Magnum.
Shot a Rifle cal. bigger than a .223.
Shot at distances longer than 25 yards (and actually cared whether or not I hit anything)
Did a competitive shoot more than once.
Hunted.
Reloaded ammo.

Now, everyone Drink!

I have:

Never purchased something because it had 'tactical' painted on the side.

Never worn cammo expect when actually, by G*D, hunting.

Never purchased any kind of LBE or thigh holster, or anything else made out of cheap black nylon.

Never drunk a case of beer and then shot up the empties.

Never added vertical grips, 'rails', lights, or wind indicators to my AR-15's.

OK, am I in enough trouble yet, or should I go on?:neener:

Reflections...

I also find the number of people that have never hunted incredible (assuming they want to hunt....and why wouldn't you???)

The number of people that have never fired centerfires or shotguns

Never shot at an indoor range

Participated in what I consider normal shooting activities

Guess I take a lot for granted

If anybody's in north central Indiana and wants to reload or shoot something they haven't shot, PM me.

NWTF has a strong program to get youth hunters involved. I used to have a hard time seeing what the big deal was. Makes more sense now

I've never shot a lever-action rifle-- I feel so un-american...
Also never been hunting, and I've never handloaded.
Never shot a 28 ga, never shot a .480 ruger, never shot a .41 magnum.
I have shot a .500 S&W, and it isn't that bad.
Oh, and I've never owned a shotgun, or semiauto pistol. Yet.

Personally even if there was an indoor range near me I probably would not shoot there except under the worst of weather conditions (cold freezing rain).

Other than that, I shoot outside year round, even when it's snowing.

Never been hunting ... maybe one of these days
Don't have a hunting rifle
Don't have a clue as to how
Don't have any place to go

I should be picking up something in a .308 next year (I think that's good enough) but I'm lost on the rest.

There have been quite a few already listed that I have never done, but I think the oddest things I have never done are:

-Never owned a pistol that isn't/wasn't SA/DA
-Never owned a non-semi-auto rifle
-AR-15 is the most reliable autoloading rifle I have ever seen.

-I've never been hunting either, or shot any living thing that wasn't a plant or an insect.

1. Never shot a 50 BMG
2. Never shot full auto
3. Never shot at a shooting range
4. Reloaded my own ammo
5. Never shot a pistol bigger than 44 magnum (500 S&W or 454 Casul)
6. Never shot a rifle bigger than 308 or 30 - 06
7. Never shot a Garand
8. Never shot at anything bigger than deer.
9. Never shot a Dragunov
10. Never shot a grenade launcher or rocket launcher.
11. Never shot a SAW
12. Never shot anything so big it had to be mounted to a vehicle or a deck.

This is a little off from the original post. It is actually just a list of things I would like to do.

I've done a lot but the list of what I haven't done is way longer than what I have done.

Hopefully have a good few years left to do a lot more.
