CZ 75 Compact questions

I'm extremely happy with my P-01 which is more or less the same as the CZ-75 compact with decocker.

The factory rubber grips are great, I also like the Hogues, but their not for everyone. The PCR & P01 come with rubber grips, cant go wrong with with any CZ!

I thought I'd get the Hogue grips too but I found I like the factory rubber grips just fine. It's an excellent CCW piece, BTW. If I do get new grips for it I'll get the Crimson Laser grips when they're available.

I also use standard CZ-75 16 round mags often. They stick out a little bit but not enough to bother me.

I use the CZ-75D PCR for CCW and range work. Great, lightweight alloy, compact hi-cap pistol. Very accurate and reliable.

Keep in mind that the CZ-75 Compact has a steel frame while the PCR (with the decocker) has an aluminum frame, so it will be easier to carry.

For CCW the PCR is (arguably) the best.

It has a light weight frame and a de-cocker.

The compact is a wonderful pistol but a little heavier, and has a safely.

The PO-1 is a excellent duty pistol, but has a bulbous nose to accommodate the accessory rail.

Have you considered the RAMI ?

I have the compact and P-01...both good pistols...get the rubber grips from CZUSA if you go with the compact.

You can use Hogue grips on a CZ compact, but they require some creative modification. They don't make any specific for the Compact, so you have to buy the full size ones and cut them down.

I love my CZ compact. I really like the "old world" feel it has; I like the weight of the steel frame, as well. When I feel like CCW with a 9, that's the one I grab.

Sounds like you might want to go with the PCR. It has an alloy fram like the P-01, a little different sights, and a trigger that is shaped a little different than the P-01. No accessory rail. It does have a decocker.

The PO1 is touted as having improved metallurgy than the PCR, but the PCR was certainly tough enough to win Czech National Police approval. The PO1 reportedly has a forged alloy frame as opposed to the PCRs' cast alloy frame.
Cast or forged, I have both the PCR and the PO1, and both are outstanding pistols, reliable, durable, and accurate.

The CZ-75 Compact is a steel frame pistol, is also available in 40 SW - but the .40 comes with the M3 rail. The major differance is the Compact is traditional CZ DA, cocked and locked, or half cock carry. I prefer the half, where the decocker on my two drop it.
I carry the PO1 every day, IWB and OWB and the M3 rail doesn't bother me in the slightest. A good holster will remove that complaint.
Grips...well, I can't help you there.

The 14 round mags can be slightly difficult to find, and more expensive than say, 1911 mags, but I even found one rare one marked LE only from the ban era...no Compacts were adopted by an LE agency during that time.
The RAMI is a good solid pistol, one my wife loves.

With the extended 14 round mag, it becomes very easy to shoot, and still conceals well.

After all is said and done, maybe this expresses it best....

I think the PCR's slide is marked "CZ 75D Compact" versus "CZ 75 Compact" indicating it's the decocker version. You might want to look at the CZ Forum, as there is at least one thread over there dealing with variation in slide markings and such (different marketing strategies in Europe and the US apparently mean the same pistol may be marked differently here or there).

For the magazines, ask CZ. They make really nice Compact magazines with rubber baseplates. Helps during speed reloads - steel bases hurt!

Is there a compact model without the rail, with the C&L option (safety), with a lightweight frame?

There is also a CZ-75 Compact in .40 which has the same frame as the P-01 (accessory rail), but in steel, with a safety rather than decocker.

PCR is great

I've had a PCR and used it as a carry gun when I lived in Arizona. The PCR is a great pistol.

I have one 14 round magazine that I used when the gun was holstered. The 14 rounders are difficult to find but 16 rounders are not and would be good spares.

Of course, on a slightly different tangent, there is the VERY ACCEPTABLE CZ 40P--a compact, alloy framed, steel slide, decocker, with accessory rail in .40 S&W.

The CZ .40 that was the result of a partnership with Colt was really neat. had a 1911 still grip angle and, I think, a single stack magazine. What was the model number of that one? CZ40? Or, was it the 40P?

The gun was the Colt Z-40. It was originally designed for the US LEO market, but Colt got cold feet. It was pure CZ, except for the grip angle (and a slightly different barrel lock up design.) Standard CZ double-stack mags work.

About 900 or so Colt guns were produced and sold in the US. They've got a small collector's value. They were DAO with very, very nice triggers.

The 40B was the same gun, with a CZ rollmark and DA/SA and a safety. It was originally sold for under $300, and one heckuva bargain.

The 40P was supposedly offered to use up leftover 40B slides; it had the P-01 alloy frame and the 40B slide. The frame had to be tweaked to do it, and the slides won't work on a standard P-01 frame. CZ now seems to be offering the 40P as new production guns.
