Hey everyone,

I just mailed in my paperwork for the Florida Non-Resident CCW Permit. Application and fingerprints both notarized, photo, Police Training Commission certificate to prove that Im familiar with firearms, and $117 bucks. Not to pleased with the last part but eh.

So how long does it usually take for the paperwork to go through? Have alot of you done this?

I don't have a non-resident permit since I live here, but mine took 14 days total, door to door....for what it's worth. That was with electronic fingerprints though.

Mine took 114 days, back in '03. It's supposed to take no more than 90 but someone misplaced the FBI check and they claimed it wasn't received yet. It took a number of phone calls to get it all done.

By the way, there's no such thing as a non-resident Florida license. They're all the same. Non-residents may have to pay more, though.

Mine took just over 50 days and Im in st. Louis. Pretty good turn around I think.

Here in Stl county I heard someone got their MO permit in 24 days!! Because they use electronic finger printing and the low demand so far.

Electronic finger printing makes things go ALOT faster.

I still think its stupid needing a permit system to carry a gun though. Vermont has it right. Althought at least the finger print part is dumb.

i mailed mine in from NYC. then i moved in the meantime, changed the address online, and got the permit, as FL resident, after total of 6 - 7 weeks (after sending second set of prints, first one bere bad). when I mailed in my application, a friend of mine did the same, but he still resides in NYC. he got his yesterday, making it about 9 - 10 weeks. his prints were bad also (we both did them with a former LEO, no good, so had to redo at NYPD).

so assuming all your paper work is in order... i called the FL department while waiting for my CCW, they said BG check usually comes back within a month nowadays, I think you can expect to get it in about 2 months.

keep us posted

my fingerprints were done by someone there and they didnt look too good. My left 4 fingers really only contained 3 fingers and the tip of my pinky. I hope they are sufficient.
