I live between Tomball Tx and Waller Tx.
I use several ranges depending on what and how I shoot,Hot Wells for
rifle ,Carters in spring or Sportsman in Humble Tx and weather plays a
part also on where I go.

Anti-gun California. Very few gunshops left in the SF Bay Area.

Presently East Tennessee.
Nearest fair size cities are Knoxville TN to the west and Asheville NC to the south.

Gun climate here: pretty good. Generally hunter-minded, but very friendly to EBRs and suchlike among hobbyists. CCW does prohibit carry into restaurants that serve alcohol, but quite frankly I suspect there's a fair amount of "gramma carry" going on regardless*

I've also lived in the Boise Idaho area where there seemed a higher level of interest generally in things that go boom. More in the way of machine gun hobbyists and suchlike. I suspect this is due to refugees from CA. Laws were even better than TN. Cowboy Action Shooting was real big to.

gramma carry - the carrying of defensive arms by decent folk who have been oblivious to CCW laws one way or the other for decades. Typified by the little old lady with a chief's special in her purse that hadn't been fired since 1978.

Lafayette, Indiana: about halfway between Indianapolis and Chicago on I-65: home to Eli Lilly and Purdue University.:D

Lots of guns, lots of ranges, lots of gunsmiths, lots of gun shoppes, lots of NFA dealers, lots of gun shows, license to carry is now lifetime, gun owners have the initiative (state park ban reversal, lifetime license, codification of no duty to retreat, and coming use of pistol caliber carbine in deer hunting).

Gun climate? Very Midwestern, very sensible. Not really actively "pro" like "rah, rah, yeah, guns" as I have seen in Texas or Arizona, but more like "*shrug* everyone has them, no big deal".

Now I must go and buy guns.:)

Massachusetts. Within a 15 mile drive there are some half dozen sportsman's clubs with ranges (members only), and that many gunshops, at least two of which are Class III dealers. Gun unfriendly state, but it could be a lot worse.

700 miles SW of Anchorage.

Gun Climate? We're too far gone for the Brady Trash to waste any time on us.

Range? Out my back window.

Gun Shop? One or two in Anchorage and one in Fairbanks.

I live in the 'burbs of Pittsburgh, PA.
I think the gun climate is OK here, although when you hear of a shooting in a bad part of town, the antis start whining and want to "get guns off the streets". PA in general (except for Philly) is very CCW-friendly; I had my permit within 30 minutes of applying, and you can carry just about anywhere, except schools and gov't buildings. Lots of hunters in this part of the state, but not all of them are as favorable to evil black rifles and CCW etc. as they are to Uncle Bob's lever-action 30-30. I guess you'll find that anywhere.

My favorite range is the sporting club I am a member of: Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen's Club ( http://www.mdi.net/dml/ )

My favorite gun store is Ace Sporting Goods in Washington, PA ( http://www.acefirearms.com/ )

Colorado, obviously. State is becoming more California every year, but it's still a fairly good gun climate.

Hate to nitpick, but an early poster was right- survey would be more useful if it used metropolitan populations, not city limits populations.

i live 20 miles north of jax fl i have access to the citys shooting range here where i live if any one is close and would like to get together and do some shooting let me no by email

I live in a rural area about 150 miles north of the Twin Cities. Nearly everyone here hunts and owns guns. Here's the view out my front door.

The nearest major city to me is Chicago, Illinois.

We have an Assault weapons ban in my current county. Luckily I am leaving for a somewhat greener pasture but not much as I am still going to be in Illinois.

Chicago, the closest city, has one of the most anti gun mayors in the country. Has banned all handguns and registers all long guns. We also do not have CCW unless your a LEO or a city Alderman:rolleyes: . They are currently trying to pass an Assault weapons ban statewide versus the Cook county one I mentioned above.

Chicago PD has a squad called the CAGE UNit. Its an acronym for Chicago Anti Gun Enforcement squad. They kick down the doors of good citizens and disarm them. There crime is simply owning a gun.

Well thats where I live. (Do we have a smiley that is crying?)

Minneapolis/St. Paul Area. (technically i live in the suburbs) quite a few posts from fellow minnesotans which is nice to see. pretty good gun climate here. tons of hunters. Lived in MN my whole life and i have no complaints except i'm not a huge fan of snow.

Now that's a good question. Sometimes in the woods, sometimes on the lake.
I surely know I don't live in a populated area where I have to worry if my CCF expires
The closest major city to me is 44º 57' N, 93º 06' W (St.P,MN) Which is 100 miles south of me.
I did not see it on your list so I checked "OTHER".

I live about 25 miles west of Boston . Surrounded by towns that won't give out ccw permits [ it's up to each towns Police Cheif ] . The gun shops that sell handguns are at least a 45 minute drive away and there are only 2 . I suspect that the newly elected anti gun governor and attorney general will team up with the extremely anti gun scumbag mayor of Boston and the other anti gunners Kennedy , Kerry and there ilk . I think they will try to make things very difficult for gun owners and gun shops . :banghead:

Live? Other. :D
200 plus miles from NYC. Plenty of firearms, ranges, shops and hunting here. You're the odd one out if you don't own a firearm. ;)

Work? The tri-state NYC merto area and NYC it's self. :( :banghead:

Smack-dab in the middle of...

...Columbus, Ohio

Ohio is going through some issues at the moment re: CCW, but we're a shall-issue state. We still have the "plain sight in a vehicle" thing to put up with, but other than that I don't really have many complaints. As for Columbus, it's a city - and a pretty decent sized one at that - so most of the folks here are probably not avid pro-gunners. My county has issued quite a few permits, and we have our fair share of gun shops and shooting ranges. From what little I've heard, our local police seem to be CCW friendly. My permit was ready in a whopping 48 hours. There's no waiting period to put up with when purchasing a firearm - I'm in and out of the store with a new gun in 15 minutes, tops. All in all I'd say it's not too bad, although a few select things could be better.

I'm sure someone will be along to disagree shortly.

We are 35 Miles out side of Austin, TX.
But that is still close enough to smell The BullS**it when the wind is from the North West and the State Legislature is in Session.
