My daughter wants a rifle. A pink one.

I'll be picking up a pink 22 for my daughter as soon as she is old enough to shoot, well maybe picking up before and giving to her later.

If it gets them interested in shooting I don't really care what color it is.

I'd consider that another poster said his daughter, when asked if she'd like a pink rifle, said she thought they looked tacky. Better to let her see the options and think of which one she likes the looks of. A rifle she thinks looks tacky could turn 'em off just as quick as any other ugly one.

So, uh, buy her one.

Ummm, he already did. Notice he said the Marlin .22 got painted.

Scout 26 said...I'd be racing to hardware store to let her pick out pink paint, some stickers, glitter, beads and/or anything else she'd want to attach to the stock.

That is the right answer.

So many guys get crazy over the fact the women in their life wont shoot or wont shoot much. Of course...when they do, so many guys want the women in their life to shoot on his terms.

seriously, do you want a shooting buddy? Would you shoot with someone who dictated any part of your shooting choices?

Here's a picture of a very young lady's rifle. Won't post her picture without parents' permission, but she CAN shoot.

OK, here is the Cammo Pink Beretta 3901 (terrible thing to do to a gun). When she wears her pink Beretta polo shirt and pink cammo baseball cap , my GF looks like she is getting ready for a stealth assault on a Mary Kay convention.

A local guy (Sargent at the naval air base) did the Duracoat for me. I think the pattern is call tiger strip.

I've got a Garand and an AR to build up for my Daughter. She has a pink Crickett already. I bought some Duracoat pink and now have plans to paint: a spare P32 grip, spare AK, the syth Garand furniture listed, AR furniture, a 9mm Glock (when I find one cheap), controls on the ruger 22/45 with pink Tac-Lite barrel on order, and....

Yes, I will be posting pictures! :D

I have four daughters, yes I said FOUR(4), and no sons, all girls (Yes, I know, I'm DOOMED!). My oldest is 16(gasp! that makes me feel old) and she has no real interest in shooting right now. She used to like to when she was younger, but now she's in a phase where it's too "embarrassing" to be seen doing anything with "old" dad. I can only hope she will come around someday. Afterall, I'm not going to force her to come shooting if she doesn't want to, that would just ruin it. My second daughter, age 11, is very interested in shooting now. She asks to go shooting with me all the time. We go as often as we can. She uses the same rifle her older sister did since even if my oldest was still into shooting, she has outgrown that old rifle. It fits my 11 year old just fine for now. My third daughter, age 5, is just starting to show an interest, partly because she looks up to her big sister and she likes to emulate everything she does. She is currently getting safety talks, and I've let her pull the trigger a few times on a close(5-10yards) reactive(pop can, plastic bottle, baloon) target. She can hit targets like that at close range, so it helps to encourage her rather than discourage her with a miss at longer range. My youngest is still too young, she'll be 2 yo in a couple weeks, but I'm hoping she'll like to shoot as well when she gets older.

None of my girls have asked for a pink gun, yet. The rifle they are using, which was originally purchased for my oldest daughter, is an old Remington single shot bolt action .22 that was pretty beat up. I got it at a gun show for $60, it was priced at $75, but I talked him down because of its condition. It had lots of surface rust, the stock was badly dinged up with no finish left on it, but nothing was broken or missing, and the bore looked ok still. The bore actually cleaned up nice and shiny, and when I test fired it, it shot quite well too. I cut and recrowned the barrel to 18" and cut the stock down to fit. Then I reblued the metal and refinished the stock myself. My daughter never complained about it, she never even asked if she could get it in any other color. Maybe they just don't know that's a possibility.

However, If any of my girls asked for a pink, purple, or whatever color gun, you can bet I will do my best to get it for them. I may even ask them if they have a color preferance for their gun. They have to share a gun for now, I can't even afford to buy myself any guns right now, much less for four other people. Do ya think I'm made of money or something?!!

NAK : neat, thanks!

Yup. I inherited two daughters (8 and 11 3/4 at the moment) and my philosophy throughout was don't try to charm the mom via the kids, rather treat the kids like small people who don't drink beer. Worked, IMO, I get treated like part of the furniture, i.e. totally accepted.

Be there for your daughters, if they come around, great, if they don't, they're still more important than guns :)

Here is my daugther pink rifle/shotgun combo. We have a good time on the gun range, though right now we are sticking to just the .22's.

LOL, kissing her rifle...Hey wait a sec, I do that to!:D

Great pictures, I just have one question Randy, how can someone that ugly have a little girl that beautiful?:neener:

J/K buddy.:D

Paint the Garand pink then post pictures of it and your daughter.

Being accused of desecrating a sacred relic is amusing.
Giving your little girl something she will forever treasure is wonderful.
Being able to do shut down threads on on pro-gun and anti-gun boards is priceless.

It doesn't seem to be on Ruger's Web site, but they make a SS 10/22 with a pink stock. It even has the clear magazine. There were two at the last Raleigh gun show, well actually one after I left.
