with a box under my arm: "I know what that is."

What is it? I asked.

"A new gun."

So much for surprising her on her birthday. :banghead: She must have watched me bring home one too many. :D

At least she doesn't know it's for her or what it is (A little Rossi 22lr/20ga multi barrel combo). Now, I just need to paint it pink.

I can relate quite a few personal anecdotes that have led me to conclude that children have a startlingly acute ability to read your mind. Perhaps it's an innate skill that's lost with age.

Or perhaps EVERY box under your arm is a new gun???

If every box under your arm IS a new gun...

Would you like to adopt? I'm already past all of the annoying phases, and we can skip straight to the "Hey, dad, let's have a beer after we go shooting" phase.

LOL. that is too cute.

My 3 year old, when he sees me with a gun says, "it's daddy's guns".

Even when he's with me in Belk's dressing room and I'm trying on new clothes and my CCW becomes visible to him.

Much to the consternation of me and probably the folks in the next dressing room over :D.

I wish every box was a new gun. :)

I suppose gun shaped boxes are pretty easily identified...compared to the usually more square shipping boxes.

I took it to the range this morning to "make sure it worked". Couple notes...

1) It sure is short and light. Makes for difficult offhand shooting. Even so, I managed to keep most shots in a 3" shoot-n-see at 20yds offhand. Should be a fun little plinker.

2) 20ga in such a light gun kicks much more than expected. It'll be awhile before she's ready for that.

LOL, I had to jump back in here for another update.

The postman just dropped off my new Nikon scope I ordered earlier in the week. As I'm opening the box my 3 year old says, "Oooooooh........Daddy's guns".

Ain't kids great??

To the OP, best of luck with your future little shooter there.
