I just got finished fitting the stock to a rebuild M1 Garand tonight when I showed it off a bit to my 15 year old daughter. New barrel, fresh parkerizing, new walnut, everything.....

She says, WOW, that looks great, is it mine? Can I have it, I want to paint it pink.
Me: Uh, maybe it'll be yours in a while, but no, you can't paint it pink.
Her: Well, can I paint my new 22 pink? (this is a new marlin we picked out last week, but haven't shot yet)
Me: Well, I kind of hate to do that to a perfectly fine stock. How about we go the the gun show this weekend and see if we can't find something there we can paint for you.
Her: Ok, can my boyfriend come too?
Me: Yeah ( hopefully I can find a cheap 22 or pick up a Mosin)

I'd be racing to hardware store to let her pick out pink paint, some stickers, glitter, beads and/or anything else she'd want to attach to the stock.

I'm sure you can find a another stock for a .22 Marlin somewhere.....

It was a little traumatic to paint a perfectly good Beretta 3091 cammo pink, but the look on my GF's face was worth. Many have repeated here that if it gets them shooting, do it!

Be sure you post pictures.

Boyfriend she wants to take to a gun show at 15...that is a whole different issue.

right on!!! let her have a pink rifle!!! if my daughter in law would allow my grand daughters to have rifles they'd get any color they wanted! my little angels would look good shooting pink guns!!!!

Why won't you let her paint your M1 rebuild pink????????????????:neener:

Yeah, I wouldn't let her paint a marlin either...Find her something else thats cheap.

This is worth repeating. If I ever have a daughter, she definately won't be having boyfriends until she is at least 45. You gave in 30 years to early.:D

When boyfriends show-up, find a gun to clean, keeps them on the straight and narrow.

This is also worth repeating, as I will most definately be doing this everytime.

An M1 Carbine is an awesome rifle for small people. It's probably the "cutest" combat rifle out there.

Spare M1 Carbine stocks are dirty cheap.

You now have an excuse to buy an M1 Carbine, an extra stock, and make the spare stock pink.

Maybe some rhinestones, or some nickel-plated tacks?

This has the potential for an awesome father-daughter experience.

Well, ok....I can see not painting the Garand pink. But for heaven's sake, if SHE owns a rifle and SHE wants it to be pink, whatsittoya??? Let her paint it pink, put sparklies on it, whatever her heart desires. The point here is for her to enjoy shooting, and if that will make her happy shooting her Marlin, then pink it is! ;)

Gawd, Matthew, you're a sick and twisted man.

It doesn't help that you're right.

It just . . . hurts to think about it.

Gotta agree with you there.

before you know it.......you'll be buying this

Hmmm, well, the Cricket is too small for her. I'll have to see about the MKII grips, as she has adopted that pistol but I also happen to have a couple of AR15 receivers in the safe, too.

It just so happened that I was cleaning an AR15 the first time the boyfriend came over. :) I have taken them both to the range and he likes to shoot the Garands. I started my daughter out with the Ruger, one shot at a time and before the end of the day she also shot a full mag out of a 1911. The only one she wasn't a fan of was an aluminum frame 380.

She'll end up with a pink one very soon, it's just a matter of caliber....

Find a decent .22 and paint the stock pink. I painted an extra 10/22 stock pink for my wife (and inlaid a nice heart-shaped pattern of plastic jewels on the side); it is, of course, now "her gun".

Last time I took the boy scouts out shooting, I made sure to get pictures of all of them shooting the pink gun...quite humorous.

I think it's great that she wants one and to care enough to personalize it. Hopefully my girls (currently 2 and 10) will be there one day.
