.30-30 underpowered?

Those old fashioned 30-30 rifles work just fine if you take the trouble to aim them. This hog took a 170 gr Core Lokt with H4350 behind it at roughly 50 yards. He dropped where he stood.

well a 150 gr did fine on my first doe saturday at about 80 yards

I'm hunting for deer tomorrow for the first time with an old savage 30-30

I took a 9 point buck today at 70 yards with my Marlin 30/30. He dropped at the shot like a sack of potatoes and rolled 30 yards down the hill. Stopped 15 yards from my atv trail. I like those short drags!

I used my Romanian AK sidefolder last Saturday - it's pretty much a .30-30 with respect to my 125gr handloads. I didn't want to get my vintage top-eject Winchester Model 94 all wet in the snow and sleet.

My 16" 336C .30-30 accounted for a Bull Elk last year. 200 yards, right through the heart. Perfectly, cleanly. The 160 grain LEVERevolution performed better than expected. The Elk just folded. Dead Right There. Couldn't have done any better if I was shooting a .300 RUM. Bullet entered just behind the front leg on the left, hit rib bone, vectored through the lungs and heart, hit rib again, and exited the far side leaving a hole the size of fifty cent piece. This was a lot more damage and penetration than I thought I was going to get.

The only high power rifle i own is a marlin glenfield 30-30.I reload and hunt chucks all summer using the old sierra 2110s.they kept the number and changed the bullet to a modern hp design ,so i only use one in tube and one in chamber.it will shoot chucks in the head at 200 yds almost every time .i change to 150 gr for deer and still use same powder charge,32.5 gr accu arms 2230.also hunt with 54 flintlock but the lever is my fav
