Where do I send money to support the NRA in their battle(s) against Chicago, et al.?

NRA-PVF? NRA-ILA? NRA Foundation? Plain ol' NRA? Other?

Which branch of the NRA specifically deals with litigation?

I just got an early renewal request. Even though I'm paid up until the end of 2009, I'll go ahead and renew now for another year.

Robert Levy and Institute for Justice bankrolled Heller. The NRA tried to kill it. The NRA came around but you have to give credit where credit is due.

According to Alan Gura, there is a fee shifting statute in there somewhere so they will get all of their expenses refunded by the District of Columbia's taxpayers.

The NRA did not "try to kill it." Five years ago, Alito was not on the court. His predecessor, O'Connor, was a moderate at best and would have severely jeopardized the 5-4 ruling we received.

Anyway, it appears people do not understand the question (which part of the NRA should I send money to) or no one has the answer.

ISRA files suit against Chicago in Federal Court

The Illinois State Rifle Association, together with Second Amendment Foundation and several individual plaintiffs, filed suit against the City of Chicago in federal court this morning at 9:15 CDT. More information will be made available in a statement from the attorneys tomorrow.

I would send it to the ISRA and the SAF.

Halftime,
Do you know if money sent to the ISRA has to be earmarked for the Chicago fight?

I personally see no problem with DC paying the attorneys. The people of DC receive the most immediate and greatest impact of the decision.

That's what I was looking for Matt, thanks!

I'll keep them and ISRA in mind once I learn more about the IL lawsuits.

Don't send the NRA any money!

They will just use it to pay Wayne his million plus salary.

Bob Levy is the reason for today's decision. If you like what he did, you can donate to the Cato Institute where he works. A better place would probably be the local groups which are on the ground challenging the various city/state ordinances.

It takes a bit more legwork than just cutting the NRA a check, but you can be sure the money will be put to better use.

You can read here about how the NRA tried long and hard to kill this case. Only when they realized they had no chance at thwarting Levy did they try and act like they were for it all along.

Sorry, I don't have those details, but if you call, I'm sure one of their reps can answer that question for you.

From the ISRA donation page:

If you prefer, you can also make a donation over the phone by calling us at 815-635-3198.
