... and now it's my wife's.

We had to go to town today for a doctor's appointment, and stopped by one of our favorite FFL dealer's establishments. They always have a wide and ever-changing supply of different stuff on the 'used' rack.

This time, one of the new things since our last visit was a very nice Remington 1100 in 20 gauge, 2 3/4" only of course. The stock had been shortened a bit (13" LOP) and a Pachmayer White Line recoil pad installed. Bluing was very nice, wood had only a couple of dings in it. It had a 28" MOD plain barrel.

Upon getting it home, a quick call to the nice folks at Remington (800-243-9700- have you memorized it yet?) uncovered some surprises. Born on date? 1967!!! Absolutely amazing. No way does this gun look to be 40 years old! It's still not as old as my wife, but we won't go there... :D

Receiver suffix (last digit in the serial number) is an X- that means it's a full size 12 ga. receiver. That will make me have to look harder for a slug barrel for it, and make one harder to find as well, more than likely. I'm not messing with the original barrel.

It's been shot a good bit- the carbon deposited inside the forearm tells me that. But it's nice and clean- very well maintained. Someone took good care of this shotgun for a long time.

We'll continue to do so...

Excellent. You made a great investment. Does it look as good as this one from '63 (second from top) ? The stock the '63 wore most of it's life is on the top gun, with a recoil pad added. The original stock is safe in the cabinet. People think it must not have been shot much. It was a league skeet gun for a couple of years in the 1960s. It was the primary duck gun off and on for a total of probably 25 years, with a 3" barrel since about '94, and in the early years it was the only gun. It still has the original 'O' ring... they were metal in the beginning. Broke an extractor opening day of dove season in 1982, and lost an operating handle once when I got them mixed up. Not too bad a record I don't think. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have.

Enjoy....

Those full sized 20s make great skeet guns, maybe The Good Doctor will take up the game.

When you find barrels, drop me a line. I have a twin of yours that needs spare barrels...
