A frequent reader that seldom posts. A question about my nice old (1991) Remmie 1100 Special Field keeps going around in my brain:
Here's the English style buttstock, sans pistol grip. The stock is one of the dark gloss-finished ones, and it would be nice to have a synthetic (hopefully a Remington brand, like Natchez sells) alternate for casual use. Can an aftermarket pistolgrip synthetic stock be applied to this receiver, or will the recoil spring angle prevent?
SF 1100's also have a shorter than normal forend (11") to go with that stubby 23" barrel. Can an aftermarket synthetic be cut down at the back by an old duffer like me, and be made to fit?
Anybody?

I swapped out the straight grip on mine for a conventional wood stock from an 11-87 with no problems...I do think a conventional forearm could be fitted to the Special Field, but I don't know how the synthetics are to work with, regarding cutting and sanding, when compared to working with wood.
