Mine is Unique, accurate, consistent, fills the case for a given charge, gives me great velocities. For full power Jacketed bullet loads, I like Hodgdon Longshot, I can push 155 grain XTP's over 1300 fps with this powder.:D

For IPSC major power factor I use Titegroup. These are not full power loads for the 40S&W, in fact they are mid-level at best. It is very economical, meters reliablly, produces smooth recoil from a ParaOrd double-stack. I've also used Longshot for max loads, but it sure kicks. Hard for me to control.

I'm anxious to hear what everybody else uses. This should be interesting, XD-40 Shooter. Thanks.

Unique is my go-to powder for 40sw. For full power loads, I like Blue Dot. I've used W231 and Bullseye as well, but I prefer the way Unique meters and fills a case.

Love AL-7 meters well thru li'dandy measure , burns spotless and give>100fps with 180gr HP's, all brands. Hard to find any more though. Got a lot left over from the days when ducks were shot with lead, nice pistol powder in the 40S&W, 45 colt and moderate SD loads for a 3" sp101 .357. :)

I reloaded 40s for quite a while with Unique. I always liked the way it shot. I swithed to Power Pistol because it measures a little more consistantly while shooting just like Unique. In reduced power loads I often use Titegroup.

Universal Clays for 165 Gr JHP's at full power. Other ones for 180 Gr pills at leisurely velocities.

I have used unique,231,bullseye, and aa#5. All worked real well in my EAA witness but the unique and AA#5 gave the smoothest recoil. AA#5 meterd so much better out of my pro auto disk than unique. So far it's my faverite.

After seeing CZ75 recommend it, I tried buying a lb of Ramshot Zip during a recent group buy. CZ75 had recommended Silhouette, but the Ramshot website recommended Zip as ideal for .40 S&W, and that is what I tried. I was pleasantly surprised at only $12.50 per lb.

Meters very consistently in my Lee Loadmaster, is very clean burning, and my measured groups are more accurate than other powders I've tried. I've loaded and shot about 1100 rounds in the last 6 weeks with it. Overall, I am very pleased and am looking forward to buying the 4 lb size next time.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention very low felt recoil. I am not worried about recoil, per se, but this powder let's me come out of recoil faster for the second shot when competing.

Hmmm....I have some Zip, but have not tried it in the .40. I may have to try it with some 180 Gr bullets.

I haven't been reloading very long and was told that Unique works well for the stout .40 loads.

So far my experience seems to be holding true for that so I'll also vote "Unique".

My Go to .40 powder..Hands down

I have used Bullseye,Red-Dot,Unique,Blue-Dot and 2400....I keep reaching for one over and over..

Man if only I could use H110,I would drop all them in an Instant.

'Nitro

I am using 5.2gr of Universal Clays with 180gr Berry's plated bullets. My Taurus 24/7 Pro, Firestar, and Hi Point carbine all seem to like the load.
