What's the oldest gun you own ?

i should be getting, in the next year or so, a colt C&B revolver that was carried
by a relative in the civil war. i was supposed to get it a long time ago, but it has just been passing around between relatives for no good reason
 
I have 12 gauge Side By Side, custom made for my Great Grand Father in the early 1800's.. Made in England, called a "London Fine Twist". Cannot tell it is a twist, and yes I have put black powder "All Brass" rounds through it. All the gunsmiths makes are under the forestock.
 
My oldest firearm is a Japanese-made matchlock musket that dates c.1750s. I bought it online, but it had been sitting in a pawn shop in Tacoma, WA for many years. It is fairly utilitarian as far as matchlocks go, & was probably an 'issue' musket for some warlord's forces. I haven't fired it, yet.
My oldest shooting firearms are a M.1858 Amberg .56 caliber rifle-musket, & a c.1850s Adams-patent .34 caliber C&B revolver. I also shoot an original Remington M.1863 'Zouave' rifle-musket, a M.1867 Danish military rolling block rifle, a c.1895 German 12mm caliber double-rifle, & a Belgian-made .52 caliber percussion pistol that may predate the Adams by a couple of years now that I think of it.

A Rem Rolling Block .43 or a couple of old percussion, damacus barrel, muzzle loading shot guns....I dont know how to tell how old the shotguns are?:confused:

It's an absolute sweetheart of a shooter.
Too bad it's so expensive to feed it :(
 
My Remington Model 34 22LR was built right between 1934 and 1936. It was the first gun I ever owned and was my 11th or 12th Christmas present in the early 80's. I still have it, but haven't shot it in 12 or 15 years. I just might need to take it to the range soon.

I have an old (?) Ithaca 37 in 12 guage.

I don't know how old it is, but the pump is well pitted and most of the blue
is nearly gone.

Is there a way I can figure out how old it is based on the serial # ??
 
1943 m38 mosin it was refinished and I put some furniture and a little scope on it, nice for plinking
 
Marlin 39A .22LR Lever- I'm not sure about the production date but at the earliest of the late 30s but most likely late 40s. My grandfather bought it for my dad about 1952- Still have it to this day, reliable as ever but certainly shows some love :p... I have some pictures of my dad as a kid wearing my gramps WWII uniforms jumping in and out of "fox holes" in the lot across the street from his house- all the while toting his Marlin :)

Its a miracle that he didn't breech it by packing the muzzle with soil :scrutiny:


I have heard that the Marlin 39 is the oldest production firearm in the world still being made... can someone school me on that? Thanks-

Crap... I wrote all that and I forgot that I had a 94-30-30 made in 1912...:banghead:
