What's the oldest gun you own ?

I think I'll resurrect this thread because of my newest acquisition: an 1888 Ithaca Baker model shotgun

1942 P-35 with Nazi proof marks. My 15 year old shoots it pretty well.

Not sure. I have a Winchester P1917 and a Stevens Favorite .22WRF. The Stevens looks ancient but may be newer than the 1917. I need to research that.

I own a 1908 remington mod 8 in 30 remington and a really old double 20 the date is there but unreadable. may xx 1xx8. its hammerless so I suspect 1898 1908 1918 but not newer so I have been told buy the locak gun historian.

I don't know. It's a Geo. Fisher, double barrel, Damascus barrels with double hammers and triggers in 12 ga. I assume that it used to shoot black powder, but my dad shot light loads in it for hunting when I was a kid. It was the first gun that I hunted with. Being very long and weighing about 12 pounds, it was a job getting it up, but it was so heavy that there was little recoil. My grandfather had it, then my dad, then he was going to sell it for $12, but I talked him into selling it to me at about age 12 or less. I haven't shot it since about 1957. I got a Winchester Model 12 made in 1940 then. The other oldest are an 1895 Nagant revolver, 1935 and a Mosin-Nagant M44 made in 1943. Love those old guns.

By the way, the Geo Fisher has a split stock that was mended by my dad with the old cloth type electrical tape. The tape is still there. Would you rework the stock or put on a new one, and would you blue the gun? Thanks.

Dave

1917 Fox Double Barrel 12 gauge that was my grandfathers. He used it for like 85 years before he died. I still have the original paperwork that came with it. His dad bought it for him when he was 12.

1896 Spanish Mauser in 7mmX57. Or that is what I have been told that it is. The gun has very few marks that I can see, and one guy in my area looked at it and the best he could date it was 1896.

1873 Springfield Trapdoor carbine, dont know to much about it,it was left to me by my uncle, he was killed over in Germany durring WW2.

Original Trapdoor Springfield manufactured in 1878. bought it at an auction in 1967 for $50. My dad thought I was crazy to pay that much for an old gun like that.

gary

A K31 made in 1942. Used to have a M91 made in 1916. I don't know for sure how many wars that thing was in but I am guessing at least three.

Iver Johnson .38s&w hammerless from the 1890s. Belonged to my great-great-uncle. A 'Frisco cop, killed in the line of duty around 1917. It was one of his throw-down guns.

Long family history. Dad filed down the firing pin after Grandma shot a panther out of a tree. Coincidentally, her pet cat disappeared the same day... .

My Enfield MK 4 #1 , that was given to me by a friend on my 15th birthday, is 1944 dated.

My dad has a .25 caliber Beretta from the 30s.

1873 Merwin-Hulbert open top .44MH, 3 digit S/N. Bought through Shotgun News for $125. Yeah, THAT long ago. Also Rem. rolling block ,43 Sp. Argentine, I think around the same age. Not sure.

Westley & Richards double barreled 12 gauge. It never gets fired.

Wow, I can scarcely compete. I'm proud to say I have an update from the last time I posted to this thread (Jan of 2005). This week I acquired a Winchester 94 30-30 with a 1950 manufacture date. She's a beauty, with only a couple places showing minor honest wear. Rifling is still sharp, action feels like it's not even broken all the way in. Unfortunately, no history to go along with the rifle.
