New To Board - Hello to everyone

Good day folks,

New user to the board here looking forward to learning more about the field of automatic pistols and shotgun sports such as skeet, trap, and sporting clays. Have been reading several of the posts on this site and found some valuable information. My wife and I have returned to the midwest after several years on the east coast and are appreciating the more familial environment here. We both grew up with shooting pistols and small caliber rifles and are now looking forward to joining a local group or two to enjoy match shooting and sporting clays (the most probable shotgun related activity).

As mentioned, look forward to learning more.

Thank you!

Joe

Hey all

Found this site while looking for some info on a gun safe (and yes, I've already seen some posts about how most are NOT safes, but RSC's!).

I'm a retired marine pilot (who would've guessed from the name, huh?) and now I'm in Law Enforcement. Was with a small college department for about 2 1/2 years but just recently got hired on with the local county Sheriff's Office! YAY! (I've been trying FOREVER!) So, with the increase in pay and responsibility I'm looking at finally getting a long gun to complement the handguns I have (Glock 22 duty weapon, Glock 27 back up, and a Beretta 92FS). But, the wife is getting upset with me 'cause I don't keep them locked up. So, looking at getting a safe...

But, I'll start a thread on that question! :)

marinepilot, first and foremost thanks for your service. Best I can say is use the search function, there is a lot and I mean a lot of information about safes on this site. Good shooting and welcome to THR!

Working Man,

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I have used the search function, and it seems like I'm leaning in the right direction looking at an AMSEC safe, albeit a small one.

I did start a separate thread asking for advice under Gun Accessories.

And thanks for your thanks about my service! That doesn't happen that much so I definitely appreciate it when it does! I miss the Corps, but I don't miss it too! LOL (Confusing, I know...)

Hi ya'll, As I'm new on this forum, I'm an Heating and Cooling engineer in my early 50's. Own a 24 acre farm where I shoot when I want. My so called arsenal includes an CMMG Ar-15, Mini-14, various other long guns from .270 Win to a .308 spanish mauser. Also have a S&W model 66-3, a .40 S&W Sigma, an LCP, and a MK-I .22 from my wifes father. I have had a CCDW license for about 15 yrs and glad to never have had to use it but have had instances when I'm glad I had it. Glad I live in KY where there's few restrictions to ownership. I feel for those of you who's states, and I include Illinois and Califnutjobsa in this, that do restrict how you can own what I feel every American's right to enjoy. Anyway, Hi.

I stumbled across this website while looking for gun related information and like the discussions I found. I collect all kinds of guns and do a bit of gunsmithing. I also cast
bullets and make my own blackpowder. My favorite blackpowder gun is an 1847 Walker
Colt.

Hey All

H.S. Teacher
Small collection of pistols and rifles that covers about every situation from hunting to home protection. Wish I could afford American made guns and rifles but just too expensive for my budget. Glad I start stocking up on ammo 10 years ago when it was cheap.
Winchester 72-Christmas present from my late father when I was 13.
Remington 870 Police Riot Shotgun
Norinco SKS purchased new in early 90's-$125
Mac 90- would like to retro fit with regular type aftermarket composite AK stock but...... w/10 30 rnd. clips. If I need all of those in a situation, I'm screwed anyway.
Norinco T33 9mm pistol-purchased new 15 years ago for $100
Hi-Point 9mm carbine-Butt ugly but fun, wanted a rifle that would shoot 9mm ammo, purchase my first 15 round clip, will see how it does before I buy more.

Most of these are under my bed and rarely shown but to just trusted friends, that are into similar type of weapons. I call these weapons my J.I.C. stash for Just in Case. I believe most of you know where I'm coming from. Enjoyed reading through the forums, already have found some answers to some question I had. Informative forum, good reading. Thanks

Hello. I'm new to THR. I enjoy just about everything to do with guns - rifles, pistols, revolvers, modern or otherwise. My knowledge-base is quite limited, so I learn a lot by reading through the THR threads. I enjoy hunting more than fishing especially since it's poor manners to shoot fish:neener:.
My favorite rifle is the Springfield M1-A (I own one standard model) I also own a Remingtom model 700 tactical .308, a S&W .44 magnum, a S&W .38spc, a Brolin 12 ga pump shotgun and a Rock Island .45 acp (commander model). While I'm proficient with the hand-guns, I enjoy the rifle more (especially with good optics). But, as Clint Eastwood in "The Unforgiven", when all else fails, my 12 guage is a positive equalizer;).
I enjoy hunting, when I can, but I do not believe in killing animals unless it's part of my food-chain. Dove are out simply because I dislike the taste. However, my attitude is mallable if someone can provide me with a tastee recipe.
I'm a Christian. If you are not, I promise to pray for you.

Greetings from California!

Hi there,

We keep running across THR doing google searches for various obscure firearms... and it seems like a good place to get info and stay up to date on 2A issues across the USA.

We're a gunshop out in Fresno California that specializes in the fun stuff.

Looking forward to becoming a participating member.

And because pictures make everything better.... Here are some pics of our little corner of Free america we've managed to carve out behind enemy lines.

HAHA the 090909 thing didn't even occur to me. I've been browsing this forum for a couple of weeks now, and decided to register this morning. I'm in the Army, currently stationed at Ft. Hood TX. Mostly interested in handguns and milsurp long guns, but enjoy learning about all varieties of firearms.

Hi everyone! Really interesting info on this site. I found this site looking for info on some guns that I recently got from my father. He recently passed away. I'm grateful for his life-long membership in the NRA & that he introduced me at a young age to the fine art of shooting and hunting. When I was 14 years old somebody tried to break into our house when my parents were gone. Thank God I was able to get to my dad's handgun and defend myself. I'll never forget that moment and I've been into guns ever since. My favorite gun to shoot, at the moment, is my 9 mm Beretta PX4 storm semi-auto. I recently purchased it and LOVE it! It has trijicon night sights and makes me feel safe at night while it "glows" sitting next to my bed. I get a complete "rush" when I fire it. I'm sure I will be able to find all the info I need on my dad's guns here at this sight. Thanks everyone.

Howdy from Alabama

I belong to a couple of other forums thought I would join here. I like to talk guns and like to shoot when I get a chance even more. Seems like theres alot of info from good folks here.

Good Evening Ladies and Gents,

Although I have been around firearms and have been reading about them for well over 10 years, I have just recently acquiring them for range shooting/personal/home protection. I am seriously disillusioned with the gun-grabbers here in IL state and I am hoping that I will be able to continue to enjoy exercising my 2nd amendment rights here before they are taken from us. It is nice to find an outlet for discussing such topics, considering that firearms are a taboo subject around here- a testament to a change in the times and attitudes. I hope to talk with you soon....

Hello all.

I'm a 17 year old senior in high school that enjoys firearm history and target shooting. I found this forum while google searching about open carry in arizona, and I thought I should register. I turn 18 in 8 days or so and I have been wondering about open carrying.

I don't own many guns, just a S&W Model 39-2 and a Mossberg 500. On my birthday, I am going to purchase a mosin nagant.

Any advice on open carrying?

Hi! Shot a bit as a teen but that was a while ago. Over Labor Day festivities some of my neighbors were chatting about their cc permits and I got the urge to go shooting again. Will be taking the NRA intro course this Sunday.

Greetings

Hello to all. I am a grumpy old Viet Nam war surplus guy; proud of my time in Army green.

I really enjoy this forum because of the wealth of knowledge and expertise...(Even if some of the "experts" don't always agree with me!)

Primary interests are sidearms and home security. I quit hunting many years ago, and sold my long guns. Just too many other toys!

I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but am wary of politicians on both ends of the political spectrum....

Newbie

Hello all,
Four years ago, i moved from NY to TN. Most everyone in TN owns a gun. Being a New Yorker, i grew up in an atmosphere where guns were a no-no. LOL A friend of mine here in TN, said to me one day "come for a ride with me i've got a surprise for you." He took me to the range. With an open mind i said to myself 'i can learn to do this'.

He taught me gun safety and then how to shoot. WOW! i loved it. Now i'm hooked. i want to go to the range and shoot all the time and i've only been at it a few months.

i bought myself a used .22 Marlin rifle, nice one for plinking. Recently, i got me a S&W .38 handgun. Love my old S&W.

i still have alot to learn.

Will try about anything that shoots but some do require wheels!

Most involves not being able to find primers though. :fire:

Hi, I'm DeadLiver 26 yr old mechanic, family man, and gun lover. I love most things that go boom and feel good in my hands. I'm as active as I can be in helping to defend our RTKBA, and to preserve this great nation and the principles it was founded on.

I currently own: Para-Ordnance SSP 1911, Mossberg 590 SP, Winchester 190, and sadly a Phoenix Arms HP22. Next purchases will be a Mossberg 500 20 ga for the wife and then a Rock River Arms LAR-8.
