New member here. Just came across this sight through a refenece to a post on this sight from another forum I am on. Really liked what I saw and decided to join up. Have already found two good deals in the classifieds that I have taken advantage of, along with a great wealth of info in the other forums. I live in Texas, about 75 miles north of Dallas. Not quite in Oklahoma, but I can see it out my back door. Just got started reloading 223 about a year ago and am progressing into other calibers. Lots of fun. Really love to coyote hunt and deer hunt, but yotes are probably my favorite. Don't have to drive to the deer lease to hunt them, and enjoy the challenge of calling in one of natures most cunning critters. Thanks for allowing me aboard!

New member. I've been reading for awhile and have learned so much.

Bought my first gun, a S&W fullsize M&P 9mm about a month ago and got my CPL. I moved to a rural area and altho I've considered buying before, it really seems like a smart idea out here.

Having fun learning to shoot and once I achieve some level of accuracy and consistency, I'd like to take some defensive shooting & tactics classes.

I'm also interested in cowboy mounted shooting, maybe in the spring after I've gotten better with my 9mm. (If I have any cash for the revolvers and leather)

I also like a good discussion and never have a problem when someone disagrees with me, as long as it remains civil.

Cheers!

Hmmm....already posted on the Ermy Lock & Load thread but.....

I'm a lawyer and chemical egineer absolutely enthralled by every aspect of firearm...pistols, rifles, shotguns, cannons, machine guns, muzzle loaders, antiques......and on and on! I am a firm believer in the statment........
If You Know How Many Guns You Have - You Don't Have Enough Guns!
I can say I have a lot because I have been collecting them for 50 years....back when guns were cheap:evil:. I know exactly how many cannons and MGs I have but for the rest - not a clue. Lots of guys buy and sell guns, I have only sold three!
Started at 12 with a .22 from Sears and gradually moved to MGs, and then to cannons. This porocess took more than 40 years! I have a 81mm mortar I shoot as well.:D
Enjoy quail hunting in Southern NM, big game hunting, waterfowling, MG target shoots, IPSC, Big Bore target shooting, National Matches, skeet, plinking and just owning great pieces of history! I collect WWII Axis semi-auto pistols.

Hello there. I'm Scott from the U.P. of Michigan. Been shooting, hunting, reloading and all that stuff most of my 46 years. Recently got more into handguns and having a lot of fun shooting.

Just ordered a Walther PPS in 9mm although I found out it is back ordered so may have to look elsewhere. This will be my concealed carry weapon of choice. Man that gun feels good in the hand! Can't wait to get it.

I can see there's lots of good folks and info here.

Cheers,
Scott

Hi' i'm new to gun forums. I'm from Lafayette, La. Just came back from the rifle range with my buddies that have these ak47 and ar15's which are very nice. They got me wanting a gun and thinking about getting a good target pistol. Glad to be a member of this forum and hope to get educated better with guns here.

I guess I should finally post... I've been a reader of this forum for quite a while, but never posted.

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and I enjoy plinking and target shooting. I'm not a hunter, but I've got nothing against hunting--I simply prefer trading halibut and salmon to hunting buddies for moose and caribou meat!

I'll tell you about my first 1911. If that goes well maybe I'll post some more. This gun episode happened in the summer of either 1958 or 1959. I know this because the seller of the 1911 was driving a 1957 Olds, and I didn't have my driver's license yet, which I got in the spring of 1960.

I was working the night shift at my Dad's gas station. When the Olds pulled up to the pumps, I hurried out to ask "Fill'er up?" as Dad had taught me. The driver explained that he was out of gas, hungry and broke, and needed to get to Fargo that night. He offered to sell me his Colt .45 for a tank of gas and $5. I was only slightly disappointed when he showed me the 1911 instead of a model P single action as I had first envisioned, but I didn't hesitate or negotiate, even after he specified ethyl gasoline (a 3 cent premium over regular.) The pump churned up to $7 before clicking off, almost 21 gallons, but I still stuck to the deal. I had a 1911 for $12, and the gentleman probably got to Fargo that night.

We had a pretty good hardware in town, and they had a box of .45 ACP for $6.50. Very Expensive Ammunition! (This was when I was paying .50 for a box of .22 lr, and maybe $2 for a box of 20 guage.) Anyway, I bought the ammo and took the gun out to the town dump for a try out. Couldn't hit a thing! What a waste of money. Not only could I not shoot accurately with it, but ammo was way too expensive and the gun wasn't really suitable for any use in western Minnesota in the late 1950's. So I took it to a local collector to see if I could dump it on him.

He offered to "give me what I had in it", as he put it, but the ammo cost was on me. I figured this was about as good a deal as I'd get, so I sold it to him for $12. It wasn't a real Colt anyway. The manufacturer's engraving on the slide said Singer Sewing Machine, and I couldn't imagine anyone wanting such a piece of junk.

Hello all, found this site looking for info on a hammer swap for my 1006. Very fond of the 10mm. I have a G20, 4006, and a Sig 229 in .357 Sig to round out my modest collection. Looking to obtain a Dan Wesson RZ10 in the near future. Boatloads of info to say the least!

Well I'm not going to assume I know anything about guns because I don't, My wife is a realtor and some of the areas that she has to go to are pretty hairy. We are considiring on purchasing a hand gun for her, she just finished her CC class and now I would like some advice on hand guns, and specially safety, safety, safety actions that we must do because we have young children.

New Member early this yawning...

Hello everyone...

I just joined up this morning...or was this afternoon...anyway I am here and a newbie in guns and pistols and whatever shoot stuff.

My youngest son is in military school and he was brought up with guns. He now owns (and collects) antique rifles. He has 10 of them? in our gun cabinet. DH, having been raised in a farming environment, grew up with guns and me, an Australian was scared of guns....until recently I learned how to use one in a 4 hour class and shoot at gun ranges and private properties of friends. I think I am getting to be a pretty good shot but I'd like to know more about guns and know how to use it safely and learn how to think that it is a tool -- first and foremost.

This is the first forum on guns that I have been and I believe I will learn more about shooting and other safety rules and regulations and laws here? I found this site by accident looking for Bersa magazines and speed loaders as I have bought myself a Bersa Thunder .380 almost a year ago now...

I think this is all I have to say at the moment...have fun everyone...

Hello,

I'm a brand new member from Illinois (outside of Cook County, thank you). Found the forum through the Gun Rights Radio Network, especially Eric Shelton from the Handgun Podcast.
I had basically no experience with guns growing up - none at home - but not "anti-gun" in any conscious way. Basically got hooked when one of my dad's friends took us out to the range when I was about 14.
My collection started with a Mosin-Nagant as a wedding gift (no wonder people can't believe I met him through the wife). Since then I've added a Yugo SKS, WASR-10 AK, Browning 9mm Hi-Power (Argentinian Police), Remington Shotgun (model escapes me, semi-auto), and a Remington 597 (we all make mistakes).
I love plinking, have very limited hunting experience (which I'd like to change), and can't wait until we get legal carry in Illinois (would it shock you I'm a cubs fan, too?).

Good morning to all.

Just joined today. I'm nearly fifty, a history fanatic and a Mauser enthusiast (Though I have a couple of Mosins and a No4 Mark II as well.)
Being a shooter in England I am a member of a despised and mistrusted minority, and until 1997 was an avid pistol shooter. My firm favourites being the Smith & Wesson Model 10 and the 1911 .45. All gone now.
I'm joining to enjoy the vast breadth of experience of like minded people. Please bear my minor contributions with good humour!

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!
Hello Justin, I am a Fulltime Custom Gunsmith,Practicing on Mostly post 1880 center and rimfire weapons. I have recently come upon a Luger Pistol and not having much experience am hoping the good folks here can help with identification and perhaps a rough idea of value. Hello all, just joined up to. I have been finding links here for some while. Figured I might as well join :D

My tastes are all over, but really enjoy early to mid 20th century firearms. Been shooting since I was very young, and still a family affair to this day. Hopefully my children and their children will also get to do so.
