2 or more of the same rifle

Two Winchesters

I have two Winchester Model 1894s. The first is chambered for 32 Special and was my dad's rifle. The second is chambered in 30-30 and I feel it's a patriotic duty for every one to own a Model 94 in 30-30.

The question is: Should I get another M94 and chamber it for a wildcat 31-30 to fill the performance gap between the first two?

Absolutely. They can share accessories, magazines, and ammo. This is especially applicable if one has to make a trip to a gunsmith or the factory. Also, one can be kept in one place, and the other in another place, so one disaster or other event does not claim both, or prevent access to both. For example, I have one BLR securely stored in a quite safe place away from my home, at a higher elevation.

One rifle can be set up with a long-range scope, and the other with a shorter-range optic, or iron sights. If one goes on a hunt a long way from home, taking two identical rifles means that if one suffers a broken part or worse, there is another familiar rifle handy. One extreme example would be a horseback hunt in the backcounty.

Lost luggage is another factor. If my wife and I each fly with firearms, I can carry one of her rifles, and she can carry one of mine. One lost gun case will still leave each of us with a rifle.

Any firearm I really like, that I use for serous purposes, soon has me looking for a spare. I have more than one each of: Remington 870 pump gun, Browning BLR, Mini-14, SIG P229, GP100, and SP101.

Quote: "I don't count collector stuff in this same gun thing."

I didn't. My above multiples are working/duty/hunting firearms.

If you have the money and the space to buy two (or more) of the gun you love, why in the world would you NOT do this?

I have two Glock 27 handguns and two Rem 870 shotguns. These are two of my favorite guns. Also, having two of the same gun is an instant parts replacement of all parts. If one gun fails, I have an instant replacement gun, or I can replace a part by picking it off the other gun. If one gun is confiscated or stolen, it's the same thing. I likely will never have to go without use of my favorite guns.

I own multibles, because one could get stolen, or broken, conficated, etc., and I like having spares.

Turning green

Perhaps not duplicate guns but the same cartridge makes a lot of sense—saves on ammo.

But nothing wrong with duplicate guns.

What is really really really wrong is y’all posting all them pictures and making me jealous as hell.

I have two sons. Never mind that they're only 3 and 1 - someday they'll need their own, and I might not want to share mine! They each have a couple of the essentials stored away for them in the back of the safe for when they get bigger.

Have 2 Garands, 1942 SA FG, 1955 HRA FG....an getting set to send out for
one of those WWII Winchesters in Service Grade from CMP....now all I will need
is the tractor Garand....

Pair of glpck 19s.

One is Gen II and was my first pistol at 19 yrs old.
The other was a Bowie Tactical Concepts that I got for 300 bucks!! I wanted one with the light rail anyhow.

2 AR-15s.

One M4gery w/ an EO Tech and a flashlight, dingleballs and curbfeelers.
The other is a 20" pile that I put together w/ parts and a complete Bushmaster lower. It has a 2x7 mounted to the flattop. Coyote gun

I've got two Remington 870s. They're not exactly the same, but they're both express magnum 12 gauges with 28" vent rib barrels, only now one has a collapsible stock and mag extension. I bought a second one because I like the feel and the way the 870 handles. No matter what other pump gun I held or fired, the 870 just always feels "right" to me.

I had three Ruger 10/22s. I sold one now I have two. I've never cleaned any of them. One of them is from the late 80s and another one I've shot over 5000 rounds. I really like them. They're cheap and you can shoot all day for $15. Eventually I plan on modding one or more but for now I haven't had time.

When you like to shoot.......and only have one gun.......it gets boring!
And my kids like to have their own weapons as well.......so having 4 or 5 of the same type of weapond is not uncommon in our house. Or they would be fighting constantly over who was using what. And on that note, it doesn't hurt to have different conversions to mix up the fun. One weapon, several coats to try on .

I have 2 ARs, 2 CZ pistols, and trying to decide if I need a second 870.

I think duplication is very important. a second gun is a complete set of spart parts.

Spare parts are always great to have around, especially when one gets fouled, you can always reach for the other to finish your business. ;)

Forget multiples, I'm still working on 1sts.
In pistols I have 1 .380,1 9mm, 2 .40's. .45 is next on the list.

In rifles all I have is 1 .243

Shotguns I have 1 12 gauge and two .410's.

I plan on an AR next and then a 45, after that a 30.06.

The .40's are a Sigma and a G27
The .410's are a Stevens and an H&R "Snake Tamer"
So technically I don't have any multiples.
