22 22s (seems appropriate)

18 38s (apparently I need more of these)

15 357s (WAY behind on these)

5 44 Specials

5 9MMs

Nothing else with as many as 5. A bunch of 2 to 3s, but no more 5s.

Would be easier to list the calibers with only 1 gun represented. I have 10 guns that don't share ammo with any others in my collection.

2 - .223
4 - .40 S&W
2 - 9mm
3 - 12 ga
Plus a bunch of singles

I like a to have a variety of calibers for different applications.

H&R single shot (scoped squirrel gun)
Savage MKII (squirrel)
Savage MKII Heavy Barrel (100 yarder)
Winchester 190 (plinker/rabbit gun)
Browning Buckmark (bullseye gun)
Ruger Single Six (hiking gun)
Ruger Charger (pure fun for a long range "pistol")

All .22's, its only 7

Remmington 870
Browning BPS

Both 12 gauge

A ton of airguns (hey, if you have one addiction whats the big deal with 2?)

I know a guy who has over 350 guns. Wouldn't it be impossible for him to NOT have two+ guns in the same caliber (if you don't count wildcats)?

No, there are WAY more than 300 cartridges, if you count all the old ones, the "obselete" ones, and the europenian ones, it would be easy. Well, might want to add some wildcatts in there to make it easier:D:D:D

i reload more than 20 different calibers and think of it as economys-of-scale to have more than one gun for each caliber. just wouldn't be right to expect one gun to eat all the ammo by its lonesome.

Duplicate calibers:

(2) .44 mag - revolver & carbine
(3) .410 - Mossberg 500E, sawed-off pistol grip snake gun, Taurus Judge
(3) .22LR - cowboy action pistol, 10/22, another semi-auto .22 rifle

Most of my collection was my father's that he has handed down to me. I've been adding to it gradually.

Joys of being an only child, I guess. :)

Currently:

2 X 22 Mag (Mossberg 640KB "Chuckster" and NAA Black Widow)

2 X 22 lr (Rem Nylon 77 and Winchester 72a)

2 x 12 gauge (2 x Rem 870's)

down the road:

2 X 45 Colt (Taurus Judge and Lever Action to be named later!)

I had always planned for a 1911 but recently came across a great deal on a H&K USP Tactical .45 and having fired it at the range and loving the trigger I had to take the plunge. At first I couldn't think of a way to justify still getting a 1911 down the road but came to the realization that it WOULD be a good idea to have a inclement weather pistol for carry (the H&K) and one for fair weather (planning on a '67 National Match).

Never underestimate Man's ability to rationalize!!! :)

2 .357's SP101 and Colt Trooper MK III
3 -.38's S&W K-38, 642, and Mod. 10
2 -.22's S&W 17-3, Ruger 10/22
2 Colt 1911's Combat commander and Gold Cup

For me it is not just the caliber, but the type of firearm or value / collectability.

I have 4 .22 rifles, 3 .22 handguns. 3 are chambered for S,L and LR.

The rifles are a single shot bolt, tube mag pump and tube mag semi. The handguns are a target auto, compact auto and a SA revolver.

I will soon be acquiring a .357 revolver and lever action rifle.

Currently, only .22 has more than one slot in my safe. I am looking into a Marlin 1894C in .357 to go with my revolver. It seems practical.
